Really? That's not at all how I interpreted this song.
To me it's about losing yourself. It's from the point of view of a concerned friend (or partner I guess), watching as a person seems to be losing themself, fading out, not doing the things they used to do. When it says "I will bring you down" I don't think it means literally that they're gonna hurt them, but more that they're angry because they're hurting themselves, and theyr'e trying to help them. And that person's in denial. They're giving up, they're ignoring you, they've lost something and they don't even know what it is. The concerned friend is frustrated and says they're sick of getting used to this, they're not gonna just accept it, and they're not gonna just do the same thing and make all the same mistakes, they're gonna keep trying. This is one of my favorite songs on the album.
