I've been thinking of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in relation to this song actually. Not only does the book have a character MArvinthe Paranoid Android, but there is also a line where the Guide descibe's a company whose opinion is not at all acurate, saying they will be "first against the wall when the revolution comes" anyone know if they are douglas adam's fans, or am I just reading too far into this?
that's immediately what I thought, actually. in the book, there is a point at which Zaphod calls Marvin "the Paranoid Android" ... and looking at these lyrics, I remember that quote as well.

I think you're reading to much into this. I love this song and the Hitch-Hikers' Guide, but I don't think there's a connection with that quote, as they are essentially about different things in my opinion.
Although I definitely agree that 'Paranoid Android' refers to Douglas Adams' Marvin.

@BlackEyedAngels not reading too much. Just reading. It's too much a coincidence - paranoid android, "first against the wall when the revolution comes", references to rain... It still has enough vagueness to allow people's own interpretation but I think there is a link to Hitchhiker's Guide.
