This is one of the best songs that I have ever heard. The melody and sound is just amazing. My friends and I have had this debate though and I wanted to get others opinions, what do you think the mountains are?
If I remember correctly this was written by the late great Bobby Sheehan. A fabulous song writer that i think overall that only got credit in the genre and within the band.

You need to be a "man" So "Feel the Rain coming in, the mountains win again" might be a metaphor for holding in your feelings, the mountains bottle up your emotions in and when they do, they've won.
At least that's best explanation I can think of at the moment.
