this is just my opinion but i think its about a guy who's in a relationship with a girl & they aren't happy and they know it...but they fake it because they don't want to hurt the other person..."don't think i can fake another hollow smile" and "i don't wanna be the one who turns this whole thing over"...and then he finally decideds that he can't pretend to be happy any more and ends it despite his caring for the other person
