I'm not really sure what this song is about but I think it might have something to do with having an abusive boyfriend or something along those lines. Like when he says "I know what he did to you, but there's only so much one can do. The rest is up to you." Most victims of abusive boyfriends say things lik "he didn't mean it, he's all tore up about it. He's really sorry." but there is only so much you can do for that person.
