I really like this song-- I didn't really get it at first (I still don't know if I get it) I think what it's about is a husband (the King) who's preoccupied with his money and wealth (the diamonds). He ignores his wife and his son. In the end she tell him to "get up off [his] ass" and pretend to be a father to his son.. The last two lines are the best.

even though he "abandoned" his wife and kid, she remains loyal and by his side.
