I beleive that this song is about a shy, calm, underconfident dude named Johnny, whose years and years of being consistantly selfless and agreeable have led to the development of a schizophrenic state, in which an alterego named Roger, who is the exact opposite of Johnny (a highly-srung, violent, irritable and downright crazy mofo) emerges. This leads to Johnny being a seriously messed up dude, but the guy Roger helps him to see that full picture of himself after shutting out the darkness after all this time. Think 'Me, Myself & Irene'.
