Ok i cant believe nobody has thought of this one except for me i know what you guys are sayin but i think it could be talking about love

"When you were young and your heart was an open book" when you used to wear you heart on your sleeve and you fell in love

"You used to say live and let live" it meant that you used to dwell on the thought of her and you let her live inside of you probably eating at you but now let any thoughts of her die

now that the world is changing and she has moved on and that "Makes you give in and cry" well you need to say "live and let die" forget her and move on

simply live you life and never dwell on the past you cant change it anyway live the life you have left to the fullest this is a great theme for 007

The GN'R version is so much better than Paul's- it rocks so much harder- seems appropriate for the lyrics.

I think i's a song about how how your relation to the world changes when you grow older. first you are very naive and innocent, you think everything will be and is just fine. then you discover that each bright side always has a shadow attached to it. never liked that song till i recently saw it live, awesome intro in a nice midsommer night.

random thought... the other day i saw axal rose on tv and it was the most horrible site i have ever seen. i use to be in love with him. but when i saw him the other day i died. he has all this plastic surgery and he has a huge mr. rogers smile plastered apon his face. and he has extentions. like fake hair in braids. and he tried to do his dance. belly gut and all. you know the dance. hell yeah. the dragging of the ankles. hell yeah. all i know is that for a split sec my heart was broken. life goes on. its just a shame he had to ruin a perfectly good... yeah

ya know, it's just about when everything fails you and the world seems really cruel, you have to say, screw you world i'm gonna make the best of my life and you just have to keep pushing foward!

It says to me that you have to be cruel to survive in the world since its changed - as in "you used to say live and let live" (have a positive outlook on life and let other people get on with their lives) "But in this ever changin' world ... Say live and let die"(attitudes have to change if we want to survive in a harsher world)

The "open book" is The Bible. The Bible says "go out and preach the Gospel to All Nations" but because some people are so stubborn you've just got to let them go the Hell and save yourself!

As it says in Matthew 8:

21Another disciple said to him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father." 22But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."

Axl Rose sounds so much like Ozzy Osbourne when singing this, that it's scary! Great version though.
