Sing It Again Lyrics
a town of disrespect
the trains are wrecked
the night is younger than us
nowhere is anywhere else
you keep to yourself
stirring the dregs
where I have laid
the exit signs are flashing
dead ends, they won't
come to life anymore
I pledged the rest
I should have guessed
your love was hangin by threads
tongues tied under the moon
my love is a room
of broken bottles and tangled webs
the miser's wind
their minds like clocks
that grind their gears
on and on
and if it's meant some accident
some coincidence
crumbs fall out of the sky
when you wander by
the dust clouds blow,
and nobody's home
Oh won't you lay my bags
upon the funeral fire
and sing it again
Oh won't you lay my bags
upon the funeral fire
and sing it again
the trains are wrecked
the night is younger than us
nowhere is anywhere else
you keep to yourself
stirring the dregs
where I have laid
dead ends, they won't
come to life anymore
I should have guessed
your love was hangin by threads
tongues tied under the moon
my love is a room
of broken bottles and tangled webs
their minds like clocks
that grind their gears
on and on
some coincidence
crumbs fall out of the sky
when you wander by
the dust clouds blow,
and nobody's home
upon the funeral fire
and sing it again
upon the funeral fire
and sing it again

maybe my fav. beck song, can't believe there aren't any comments on it yet
I really like this song, as well. I love listening to it when I'm sleepy.
the greatest song beck has ever written.
It's a love song, two lovers, no one things it ghould be. second guesses, thinking about the causes of your actions what should i do, almost lost, but find it is the right thing to do no matter what what every one says. putting myself out there for all to see, tis is me.... beck lyrical god
As I listen to this again after many years whilst simultaneously reading this page I can't help but notice that one of the lines above reads
"your love is a room of broken bottles and tangled webs"
But it's actually
"my love is a room of broken bottles and tangled webs"
The difference between your and my is, IMHO, significant and subtly changes the meaning of the whole song.
What can you say about a tribute to an old bar, drinking song that sums up the dregs of drinking so well? Beck's an insightful dude.
