Daytime Dilemma (Dangers of Love) Lyrics
she came from a happy home
a very happy home
avery happy home
Miss personality, a grade 'A' student naturally
she had it all worked out
but things aren't what they seem
is this real or just a dream?
and things will never ever be the same again
she came from a happy home
a very happy home
a home of happiness
Miss personality a grade 'A' student, naturally
she had it allin place
but things aren't what they seem
is this real or just a dream?
things will never ever be the same again
the dangers, its the dangers of love
the dangers, its the dangers
she came from a happy home
a vey happy home
a very happy scene
she caught him with another
it turns out it was her mother
what a tragedy
can things be what they seem
is this just some crazy dream?
things may never ever be the same again
the dangers, its dangers of love
the dangers, its the dangers
keep telling li-ie-ies, but you did
you know you did
its coming,.it's coming,.it's coming
the dangers, its the dangers of love
the dangers, its the dangers
what went wrong she couldn't tell
but we know it all too well
the dangers, its the dangers of love
the dangers, its the dangers
a very happy home
avery happy home
but things aren't what they seem
is this real or just a dream?
and things will never ever be the same again
a very happy home
a home of happiness
she had it allin place
but things aren't what they seem

Damn, this is the kind of Ramones song that I really love, but not too many know. Much more powerful than people give them credit for. Oh, Pearl Jam does a greeeeeeat cover of this.
Thing song is indeed about a relationship that very quick turned destructive. But to me its about more than just that. Its about how you can live your life in a very regular and normal way, and at the end of the day, still find that things have turned against you. Whats even more ironic and possibly sadder, is that when things started out, they were fine! How could things have gone from that good to that bad? "What went wrong, she couldn't tell" Moreover, this has really hurt her, and she "... will never be the same again."
This song is also about one other thing. Its about how people can hurt each other in the name of love. You can say to someone I love you, and find that your love leads you to do hurtful, painful and ugly things to someone else. And perhaps whats worst or saddest of all, you can be from "a happy home" and never expect any of this to hit you or affect you. e.g. How could this happen to me? I'm a good person! I followed the rules!
fantastic song
i agree.
the lyrics are very clear; the dangers of love meaning that a girl who was everyrhing considered socially correct ("miss personality a grade A student naturally") actually got involved with someone who was morally incorrect
I always figured that it was all those things happening above, but not in real life, but on a soap opera.
There's the trope of everything being a dream, the concept of "What went wrong, she couldn't tell, but we know it all too well", and the title Daytime Dilemma (referring to the timeslot soaps generally air in). The Ramones wrote a lot of silly stuff about life on the road (hanging out in 100B, watching Get Smart on TV), and spending time on the road rather than working a day job, when you turn on the TV, you're likely to see some soaps.
@Stitchopoulis Exactly. This was one of the plotlines on All My Children around the time Too Tough to Die came out. ABC advertised its soaps under the slogan Daytime Dilemma. I was in college and watched the soaps religiously at the time.
