John The Revelator Lyrics

well, who's that ridin, John the Revelator
tell me who's the ridin, John the Revelator
tell me who's that ridin, John the Revelator
wrote the book of the seventh seal

well, God walked down in the cool of the day
and he called Adam by his name
he refused to answer
'cause he was naked and ashamed

tell me who's that ridin, John the Revelator
tell me who's there ridin, John the Revelator
tell me who's there ridin, John the Revelator
wrote the book of the seventh seal

well, Christ had twelve apostles
and he led twelve away
said "walk with me one hour 'til
I go on and pray."

tell me who's that ridin, John the Revelator
tell me who's that ridin, John the Revelator
tell me who's that ridin, John the Revelator
wrote the book of the seventh seal

Christ came down Easter mornin
Mary and Martha came to see
said, "Go tell my disciples
meet me down in Galilee"

tell me who's that ridin, John the Revelator, etc.

Actually, the original was written and performed by Son House. Nonetheless, all versions of this song by DM, The Blues Brothers, BWJ, and everyone else are all variations of the original Son House song.

Indeed, and Depeche Mode's was basically just a blasphemous rape of the actual lyrics

Actually Johnson recorded this in 1930, Son House didn't record it until much later. But this version which uses Son House's lyrics is about the Fall of Man, The Crucifixion, and The Resurrection.
