Bottle Of Blues Lyrics
i just found me a bottle of blues
some strange comfort for a soul to soothe
ain't it hard
ain't it hard,
to want somebody who doesn't want you
and i've been waiting for a year, a day
some strange weather must be blowin' my way
cause i got no mind to go or to stay,
or be left behind
holdin' hands with an impotent dream
in a brothel of fake energy
put a nickel in the graveyard machine
i get higher and lower
i get higher and lower
like a tired soldier
with nothin' to shoot
and nowhere to lose
this bottle of blues
egos drone
and pose alone
like black balloons
all banged and blown
on a backwoods river
the infidels shiver
in the stench of belief
i tell my momma i'm a hundred years late
i'm over the rails
and out of the race
and the crippled psalms
of an age that won't thaw
are ringing in my ears
holdin' hands with an impotent dream
in a brothel of fake energy
put a nickel in the graveyard machine
i get higher and lower
i get higher and lower
like a tired soldier
with nothin' to shoot
and nowhere dreams it's a..

theres a crazy guitar tuning for this song. This is one ofmy all time favorite songs
why are there no comments! i love this song.
this song, at least the guitar anyway, reminds me of "Hats off to (Roy) Harper" on Led Zeppelin III- which was bluesy as well. Another song on the album Mutations- "Nobody's Fault But My Own" has a similiar title to the Led Zeppelin song "Nobody's Fault But Mine". They're both kinda bluesy songs.
Anyways, I also love this song.
It is a good song. About using alcohol to drown sorrows I think. Loving someone who does'nt love you?
I thought it sounded a lot like Friends by Led Zeppelin, and I also noticed the similar song titles. Love both songs.
man this song is my life story
I actually I think it sounds more like "Black Country Woman" by Led Zeppelin, as well.
I think of "put a nickel in the graveyard machine" everytime I use a ciggies machine! its probebly how he thought of it. I love beck
great song most definately =] talking about ignoring your sorrows by drinking. and this guy's sorrow is that he's loving someone who doesn't love him back. great song, great song. cheers ;]
I heard a couple guys play this song in a bar one night and instantly couldn't get it out of my head. What a great song, Beck is so complex it could be just about anything, however, I read somewhere that the song was about impotence. When you think about it, yeah, the entire song could be a metaphor for that - "like a tired soldier with nothing to shoot".
