Smash Lyrics
Hey. . .what are ya thinkin'
I tried to read your face
Say. . .say what you're thinkin'
Don't carry round that pain
Everytime I see you pickin' at yourself
I love . . .I love when things work out
Smash. . .I heard ya cryin'
Seven times this year
Crash. . .but now you're smilin'
Holdin' back your tears
Everytime i see you pickin' at yourself
I love . . .I love when things work out
Everytime I see you torturin' yourself
I love . . .I love when things work out
And I see it from another place right now
I'm comin' home before I hit the ground
Right back where I want to be right now
And I feel it
Smash
And I feel it
Smash
And I feel it
Smash
I tried to read your face
Say. . .say what you're thinkin'
Don't carry round that pain
I love . . .I love when things work out
Seven times this year
Crash. . .but now you're smilin'
Holdin' back your tears
I love . . .I love when things work out
Everytime I see you torturin' yourself
I love . . .I love when things work out
I'm comin' home before I hit the ground
Right back where I want to be right now
Smash
And I feel it
Smash
And I feel it
Smash

Cool song, dunno why no-one has commented. It sounds as if he is talking about someone who is holding their feelings within them 'Don't carry round that pain' Saying how it hurts him too 'And I feel it' but it's good when things turn out right. Also, the person he is talking about seems to break down 'I heard ya cryin seven times this year' I guess it could be about a relationship which wasnt working, and this person cares for the person in the relationship... Dunno, what do other people think?
Nice easy going song. I beg to differ with you. I don't think it's about a relationship, seeing that he sings "Hey. . .what are ya thinkin' " and "Say. . .say what you're thinkin' ". That sounds as if he is interested in the person. Still wondering what the word 'smash' is symbolizing?
i have no clue what the song means. i'm going to guess and say that it's about a relationship with bad communication(she never talks to him about how she's feeling) and she's trying to hide her depressed feelings. but they still love each other. i have no clue what he was thinking when he wrote this one.
oh, and maybe 'smash' is referring to when she becomes sad and depressed again.
Robby's songs always make me so happy. 0_0.
I think this song is about an abusive relationship. The first part is him trying to help his friend. He can see she's unhappy, constantly 'pickin' at herself & 'torturin' herself. And is trying to get her to open up to him "say, say what you're thinkin. Don't carry round that pain."
The 'i love... i love when things work out' bit is meant to be ironic i think. He's tryining to help her but she's either unable or refuses to see the situation for what it is.
The last part "and i see it from another place right now, i'm coming home before i hit the ground" - sounds like he's imitating the point of view of the person in the abusive relationship. They're finally realising their situation and going home/seeking help before something worse happens and they "hit the ground".
Then the very last part "Smash... and i feel it" is them finally allowing themself to feel or comprehend the abuse they've been subjected to without denying it or coveringn it up (as they do at the start... "but now you're smilin, holdin back those tears).
Dunno... that's just my take on it, the music is actually really happy and it wasn't until i properly listened to the lyrics that i realised it might be about something as dark as physical abuse, though from the title it would seem pretty obvious.
