Bite Your Tongue Lyrics

Such an annoying conversation
I'm sorry but I'm tired of trying
To be some picture of compassion
...and anyway it sounds like I'm lying
...and yes I've heard the world has conspired
To steal away your god-given right
To a happy home and comfortable children
Next you'll sue them for abandoning you!!!

So bite your tongue
You're not the only one
Who's been let down
Bite your tongue
Maybe it's good for you
To hit the ground

Oh, christ... it's gonna sound like I'm agreeing
With the most ultra-boring ideas
Of pop psychological western gurus
Who haven't gotten lucky in years
...and so you see I have no intention
Of giving you the easy way out
Yes I'll smile as I burn the self-help section
Of my local bookstore!!!

Bite your tongue
You're not the only one
Who's been let down
Bite your tongue
Maybe it's good for you
To hit the ground

Blame the shapes and blame the angles
Blame it on your own dark planes
If you blame on something other...
The victim's song remains...
Remains...

So bite your tongue
You're not the only one
Who's been let down
Bite your tongue
Maybe it's good for you
To hit the ground

This song is great, too. Why don't I have anything intelligent to say about anything? This song is just reminiscent of those annoying folks who think everybody is conspiring to put them down. God, I hate those people.

I dont think that its totally about...people who have conspiracy theories. In my opinion, it has something to do with a person who's had it good and took advantage of it. And when he/she comes to him and is complaining, he doesnt care. " maybe its good for you..to hit the ground ". Too much of a good thing, is bad for you.

This song to me is about someone who thought they knew it all... who had a bunch of opinions on the truth, but didn't quite hit home... and she clung to ever ideal and wouldn't let go. It kinda describes the way I can be. More than me, it describes my friend. No one is ever right... and maybe she needs to hit the ground. At least I know when to stop... when to bite my tongue.

This songs sounds like he's saying "get over yourself!"... no one has it easy in life.. take your lumps and bumps like the rest of us, pick yourself up off the ground, and get on with it...

a little humility is good for the soul... stop all the psychobabble, all the whining, all the self pity and stop blaming your mother for not loving you enough, and stop acting like the world owes you a living, and GET OVER YOURSELF. This song is about grabbing all that life has to offer because we are guaranteed nothing... so, just get on with living in the NOW.
