Black (Pearl Jam cover) Lyrics

Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay
Were laid spread out before me as her body once did.
All five horizons revolved around her soul
As the earth to the sun
Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn
Ooh, and all I taught her was everything
Ooh, I know she gave me all that she wore
And now my bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds
Of what was everything?
Oh, the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything...

I take a walk outside
I'm surrounded by some kids at play
I can feel their laughter, so why do I sear
Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin round my head
I'm spinning, oh, I'm spinning
How quick the sun can, drop away
And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass
Of what was everything?
All the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything...
All the love gone bad turned my world to black
Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I'll ever be...yeah...

Uh huh...uh huh...ooh...
I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's skys, but why
Why, why can't it be, why can't it be mine?!

This song is originally from Pearl Jam, Aaron Lewis of Staind just re-did it. It's live, acoustic and really good!

I heard this version of the song, then, later, i heard the original by Pearl Jam. And, no offense to Pearl Jam or anything, but in my opinion, Aaron Lewis did it much better than they did.

Yes, Aaron Lewis did a kick ass cover of this song, but it doesn't even come close to Pearl Jam.

Aaron's cover was more dark and depressing because it was acoustic, and pearl jam's version is more of a storytelling song because it has all the other sounds in the lyrics. aarons is better

yes definetly much better than the origanal, maybe cause aaron lewis is probobly one of theb best if not the best singers on the planet. definetly depressing. its also the only song worth a shit on the new family values cd

aaron's cover is amazing, but i think it's a little silly to say that it is better than the original. aaron has a stronger voice than eddie, but that's his song, and his emotions come through on it.
