Rust Lyrics
Living, fighting, obsessing
Just as long as I can share it all with you
Yesterday, today, tomorrow, come rain, come shine
Hell and back, the beginning in between till' the end of time
(CHORUS)
All that shines turns to rust
All that stands in time turns to dust
As above, so below
But you ain't no fool and honey, I'm damn sure that you know
Yesterday, today, tomorrow, come rain, come shine
Hell and back, the beginning in between till' the end of time
Chorus
Just as long as I can share it all with you
Yesterday, today, tomorrow, come rain, come shine
Hell and back, the beginning in between till' the end of time
All that shines turns to rust
All that stands in time turns to dust
But you ain't no fool and honey, I'm damn sure that you know
Yesterday, today, tomorrow, come rain, come shine
Hell and back, the beginning in between till' the end of time

Last year I had a really bad motorcycle crash in which I genuinely almost died, saw the light and was in a coma and everything. This song ties directly to that bike I had to sign away. I believe it's to show in the metaphorical sense that all that shines(is beautiful and "perfect" and beneficial to your life) will eventually rust(go somewhere far away and you can never get it back. Or end up being ugly after all.) Also, just today I had to euthanize my dog after having him for years. He was like my child with the way we bonded. This song ties into that as well for me. It's a gentle but immovable reminder that things will forever change, as must you.. and you gotta be okay with that.
Yes, I agree. I love this song, reminds me of myself sometimes.
I think he's saying that after being married so long, it wears on you and the little things that used to make you happy don't appear to be so great anymore, and the little things that never bothered you now start to wear you down. But that's married life, it's not supposed to be perfect, so I'll put up with all of it just to stay together, because this is how it is in the real world.
This song touched me the first time I heard it. So deep. I love it when Big Bad Rocker Men show their soft side. He is talking about how his love will never end & how superficial beauty all ends the same. Love is blind and never goes away even after the packaging is less than beautiful. The guitar work conveys the meloncholy. Beautiful.
I think he is saying that he doesn't care what he has to do to be with this person - he will live, fight, obsess, just as long as he can share it with her. He is going to 'hell and back' over her, and then he is saying all good things come to an end - all that shines turns to rust...
This Song Makes My Anger Go Away Somehow I Guess Its Tone Of It
we all need some one to share our life with and when we die we turn to dust only the possesions remain
