i am a fallen zero
below the glaciers of the evil
i am a golden superhero
above the sun and all the people

space in your face i'm gonna drink
the fucking ocean cause i ain't from a coast i'm just coastin
said i was an afterthought you'd bring along
well who you after now, bitch?
run, motherfucka, run

and if you think i'm space-cakening
i've been in shit of rude awakening
and i'm floating high, but i'm always down
skip or trip to face the space or fake in this

in the middle i stay in place, skip or trip at zerospace
in the middle i stay in place, skip or trip at zero
in the middle i stay in place, skip or trip at zerospace
and i'm floating high, but i'm always down
skip or trip to face the space or fake in this

i met a fellow zero
he took me to the silver people
i said "i think you are my hero"
and we were one it all was clearer

space in your face, it's the way to get you closer
while you were sittin on your ass
i drank the fucking ocean
zerospace the way to get your kicks, but too many chefs in the kitchen could spoil the mix

i am a means until the end
i move a mountain with my hand
and i'm floating high, but i'm always down
skip or trip to face the space or fake in this

in the middle i stay in place, skip or trip at zerospace
in the middle i stay in place, skip or trip at zero
in the middle i stay in place, skip or trip at zerospace
and i'm floating high
and i'm floating high, but i'm always down
skip or trip to face the space or fake in this

and i'm floating high, but i'm always down
skip or trip to face the space or fake in this
i'm floating high, but i'm always down
skip or trip to face the space or fake in this

and i'm floating high, but i'm always down
i'm floating high, but i'm always down

Step
Ministry
Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
