3 Day Weekend Lyrics
aside from the name that holds us together
now I think we'd fall apart
it's the years we'll pretend we've forgotten
that separate our hearts
and I don't remember the way this was
but the pictures prove I knew you once
and where is the source of our mistakes
I'm afraid one day we'll drift so far
we'll wake up not knowing where we are
these words accomplish nothing if I'm gone
now I think we'd fall apart
it's the years we'll pretend we've forgotten
that separate our hearts
and I don't remember the way this was
but the pictures prove I knew you once
and where is the source of our mistakes
I'm afraid one day we'll drift so far
we'll wake up not knowing where we are
these words accomplish nothing if I'm gone

I like how this song can be seen as a relationship deal or even anything that has been established for years and now is soley because it has been established still present. This is a reason why I like the ways Rise Against writes
I wish this song were longer, the chorus is so powerfull i wish theyd repeat it one more time. This song is about drifting away from someone youd once cared about to the point where you dont know them at all. so good
the first line actually reffers to it being about a family member.
I think it's about two people who are loving eachother but never had an relationship and afther a couple of years the meet again.
Because of the first line, this song could be about a family member, a marriage [but Tim isn't married], or Rise Against itself. And just like a rough time they went through..
i agree with jbcynical I wish this song was longer as well, really good song. As far as meaning, I'm not sure
"aside from the name that holds us together" mainly makes me think it's referring to a family member, though the name could be a title as well, like girlfriend or something. the song is about people changing over time to the point of not recognizing each other anymore.
I think maybe it's about a divorce that hasn't gone through.. "name that holds us together", maybe it's only the name that binds them and that they're both trying to just let go and forget "years we'll pretend we've forgotten" And then he's scared that maybe he'll never even know her anymore "I'm afraid one day we'll drift so far/We'll wake up not knowing where we are"
Maybe the title refers to maybe a long weekend the couple spent back when times were good..? Or maybe the attempt of divorce was on a weekend and the case just dragged on. I don't know much about divorce so please don't be giving me sh-t.
I just though the title was called 3 day weekend because similiar to how a 3 day weekend feels the song goes by really fast lol
