Stained Glass And Marble Lyrics

come warm your hands on hellfire and brimstone
empty the pockets of the innocent victim
bound by fear
we misplace trust
in your voice
inside these walls
convincing us we have no choice
gaze upon these stare of naiveté
two thousand years replaced
with eighteen inches of our faith
bound by fear
we misplace trust
in your voice
inside these walls
convincing us we have no choice
and this reflection
on where the message lies
stained glass and marble
or somewhere deep inside
(somewhere deep inside)
this message you will only find deep inside
to read these words
you keep looking down
but in the sky
this message is written in the clouds

No Rise Against is NOT an athiest band. They do belive in God. This song is targeting all of the Catholic churches who are too busy taking money and advertising themselves (read these words, you keep looking down) instead of focus on what they really need to, which is God (but in the sky, this message is written in the clouds)

Rise Against is religious? oh crap. I hate most religious people.

And, Skatingwithgod... Oh no no... don't try to make us non-religious people believe in god. that "god loves you" bullshit won't work for us. Life is not that simple. I wish it was.

okay fine... I don't hate most, I hate some. mostly those judgemental fundamentalists. and then the rest of them just are optimistic fools. Like that guy above my first post.

most religious people are too into it i agree missneurotic but some like me believe in him but dont go all out and try to convince everyone to believe in God I really do hope all the religions just let everyone else believe in wat they want to believe in

Thank you.

I have to agree with Skatingwithgod... his interpretation seems to be more logical. A lot of you guys automatically see "Stained Glass and Marble" and automatically think "Oooooh they're atheist, woohoo yeah!" But if you look deeper into the lyrics, it's really going after the Church... the last few lines clearly bring that out.

My Opinion

Plus, they're not religious, but not really anti-religious either. Tim seems to be very open, and he's pretty knowledgeable in bible studies. Tim was raised in Catholicism, and he's pretty knowledgeable on the Bible
