Under The Ice

I agree with Raedrik. Cassandra was so beautifull that Apollo himself felt in love with her. He granted her the gift of prophesy, but when Cassandra denied his love, he asked to kiss her for the last time. During this last kiss, Apollo spitted inside her mouth and, as a result, no one would ever listen to the prophesies of Cassandra. Now, about the line ''under the ice'', I believe it has something to do with Dante's Inferno and the Divine Comedy. I am telling this because there was no ''ice thing'' in the greek underworld. But in Dante's Inferno, there is Jubecca, the 9th circle of Hell, where those who betrayed God are kept ''under the ice'' of lake Cocyttus for eternity. Since Hansi has read the divine comedy, I suppose that he placed Cassandra there for betraying Apollo, a God.

But thats just how I see it..... does anybody agree?

I'm not sure precisely about some things in how it fits in, but both And Then There Was SIlence and this are both about The Trojan war.

It might be about Agamemnon sacrificing his infant daughter for favourable winds, because when trying to chase after Cassandra his fleet kept being blown back into port. Just what I've always imagined it to be about.

plus it was one of the main reasons Clyteamnestra killed him :D

I think this song has to do with Cassandra's curse. She was so beautiful that Apollo gave her the power of prophecy, but she didn't love him so she was cursed. No one would ever believe her predictions. This song is probably about her warning the Trojans about the Greeks and their famous Trojan horse trick, and having no one believe her until the Greeks storm the city (the slaughterhouse?). This is how Apollo takes his revenge and tortures her.

I seem to agree with toastybiggins. Seems to me that the song is about the meeting between Cassandra and Apollo in which she denies his love. In return, Apollo casts the curse upon her so she cannot affect the outcome of the war with her gift of prophesy:

"We're not allowed to see beyond that's your skill Will we ever learn the lesson "We can't fly with broken wings"

It fits perfectly, including some very odd details that make it seem almost as if BG had written it specifically for this.

Well if its about the Trojan war, the Cassandra they would be refering to would be Agamemnons slave thingy who he brought back from troy and was killed by his wife, Clytemnestra. Maybe its about Agemenon returning home and then being killed by his wife, hence the slaughter house references...i dont know...just a thought... thats what i thought of when i first heard the song anyway (and i realise i have spelt half the names wrong, spelling isnt my strength)

I didn't mean to say Cassandra :B I meant Helen but I got a little mixed up while reading the other comments. I also wanna say that even I'm not sure why the song makes me think of Agamemnons sacrifice.
