Dark Horse Lyrics

DARK HORSE

You thought that you knew where I was and when
But it looks like you’ve been foolin’ you again,
You thought that you’d got me all staked out
But baby looks like I’ve been breaking out

I’m a dark horse
Running on a dark race course
I,m a blue moon
Since I stepped from out of the womb
I’ve been a cool jerk
Looking for the source
I’m a dark horse.

You thought you had got in me in your grip
Baby looks like you was not so smart
And I became too slippery for you
But let me say that was nothing new.

I’m a dark horse
Running on a dark race course
I’m a blue moon
Since I picked up my first spoon
I’ve been a cool jerk
Looking for the source
I’m a dark horse

I thought that you knew it all along
Until you started getting me not right
Seems as if you heard a little late
But I warned you when
We both were at the starting gate

I’m a dark horse
Running on a dark race course
I’m a blue moon
Since I stepped from out of the womb
I’ve been a cool jerk
Cooking at the source
I’m a dark horse.

It sounds easy and honest, and it can be seen from different points of view. I think Mr. Harrison also meant that he was often underestimated, misunderstood and a bit of a loner up to that point in his life.

It's a pity that his voice was so hoarse in this song. Other than that, it's an excellent song. The melody is perfect.

George was suffering a bout of laryngitis when he recorded this making this sound like a rejected recording from the Blood on the Tracks sessions. Also, this song was neglected for some time and was quickly re-recorded and released as a B-side, according to Wikipedia.

But, on the lighter side, this song is about George's ways with the women. I think he penned this song in the wake of his divorce from Patti Boyd, so he doesn't even try to hide his disdain for monogamy. I like this song, but the subject matter is detestable. I like the vocal, the guitar licks and other instrumentation. George Harrison is a great musician and philanthropist, but his actions with women are detestable.

One of the reasons I love this song is the hoarse vocals. BOTH OF YOU SHUT UP. I was like, "That's so hot, sounds like he just got through with a violent coughing fit." I like how the patheticness of his weak voice contrasts with the sassy I'm-such-a-playa lyrics. So good.

"Steaked out"? Is that New York Strip or Filet Mignon? How about "staked out"?
