This is such an AWESOME song! I can't believe no one has written about it! Can someone tell me wot this song is about?
I think Roberts is just once again questioning the mysteries of life. Throughout the album he seems to be struggling with Creationism. It seems like he accepts some form of it, but not without some skepticism and doubt.
I agree with the above. I think Roberts wants to believe in a God and Heaven ("God Shuffled His Feet") but has some doubts about his specific beliefs ("In the Days of Cavemen", "How Does a Duck Know", "Here I Stand Before Me")
I think all of you are wrong. I don't know Roberts' religious views, but I'd lean on the atheist side. How Does A Duck Know is about how Humanity can not only fuck up other animal species but itself. Notice how he mentions that humans can kill or harm other species and, yet, ends the song with a human hurting himself by constantly smoking.
