Evergreen Lyrics
Me and the trees, losing our leaves, falling like blood on the ground.
I want to be evergreen
Everything dies, I know last night part of me wasn't around
I want to be evergreen
Evergreen
Waiting and listening, hoping and missing all of our time left alone
I'm the one cutting the rope
Frost bite in winter, it cuts like a splinter, come on and follow me down
I'm the one cutting the rope
Holiday end, here once again
And I'm left alone on the bus with my head on the ground
I'm lost then I'm found by You this time around
The sun will rise soon and tackle the moon, chasing it still in the sky
All that I've got is tonight
Excuses and reasons, well now tis the season for all that I never got right
All that I've got is tonight
Holiday end, here once again
And I'm left alone on the bus with my head on the ground
I'm lost then I'm found by You this time around
The night is a crow singing 'come hold me'
All that I know is that I've been so lonely, lonely
All that I know and all that I know
Found myself under You're rain
I want to be evergreen
I want to be evergreen
Holiday end, here once again
And I'm left alone on the bus with my head on the ground
I'm lost then I'm found by You this time around
I want to be evergreen, I want to live all year 'round
I want to be evergreen, I want to live all year 'round
I want to be evergreen, I want to live all year 'round
I want to be evergreen, I want to live all year 'round

This song is about consistency. The way we live our lives when no one's watching. How we should strive to live our life to the same fullness all the year round just like the trees whose leaves never die. Switchfoot sing a lot about entropy: the law of this world which states that everything falls to a lower state of matter; the second law of thermodynamics. "Everything dies", leaves fall, flowers wither, but our lives should shine through to others all year round and not grow faint.
It also has the idea of coming home from a holiday or returning to normal life from a spiritual high. "Holiday end, I'm here once again and I'm left alone on the bus with my head on the ground"
Great song.
I want to be evergreen.
switchfoot is my fav christian band
This song is about "living the life" all the time. Just as evergreens stay green all year round, we need to be on fire for Christ in everything we do.
please stop with the christian band thing...they're not a christian band. tim the bassist said 'we're christian by faith not by genre'.. they're just christians in a band, like U2.
True.
True.
Born2xl, even if your claim was true, keep in mind that because THEY ARE Christians, their values and beliefs WILL come out through their music.
Where can you hear this song? It's not on itunes or any of their cds...
On X Christmas.. 2011? I'm Not Sure What Year, Great Song!

wanderer- it was a bonus song on one version Nothing Is Sound, I think... maybe the ones sold in Best Buy. i don't know where to download it, but you could probably find it on dogpile.com.
Actually the song was on the Happy Christmas compilations Volumes 1 and 4 from tooth and nail.
Just because you're Christian, you don't have to sing only of God. I'm Christian, and die hard one at that. And I conceive everything through a Christian eye, but this song spoke to me not about religion, but about living in general. It was like, "I don't want to have to go to a big event, or a concert to be inspired, to want to change this world. I want to live all year round-I want to live life for real every day."
