I Turn Everything Over Lyrics

Monday found me on my knees again breathing You in
To draw the lines that mark where I begin and where You end
No use in trying to pretend
Come take me again
'Cause rumor has it I’m not who I’ve been
Come define me

What can we do if the rumors are true?

I turn everything over, I turn myself in
I turn everything over, I turn myself in
There's nothing left of me to defend
I turn everything over, I turn myself in

The evidence convicts the hollow man
After looking inside
To my dismay I find I’m just one of them
'Cause I’m an already but not yet resurrected fallen man
Come break this limbo
'Cause I know You know just who I’ve been
Come define me

What can we do if the rumors are true?

I turn everything over, I turn myself in
I turn everything over, I turn myself in
There's nothing left for me to defend
I turn everything over, I turn myself in

Rumor has it You love me
Rumor has it the world spins upside down
Rumor has it my only hope is You
And the rumors are true
I turn everything over

And what can we do if the rumors are true?

I turn everything over, turn myself in
I turn everything over, turn myself in
There's nothing left for me to defend
I turn everything over

"Much of our world is built upon the philosophy that we can find significance and contentment inside of ourselves and our surroundings. Yet we've all heard the rumors that even after achieving these ends, we will not be content. What if the world around us is flawed? What if we are flawed? What if Christ is our only hope? What if the rumors are true?" -Jon Foreman

i totally identify with this song. whenever i struggle with my identity, i pray "come define me" and "blur the lines that mark where i begin, and where you end"

I Love this song it's one of my Switchfoot Favs! Anyway I think this song is about Love and a guy who loves this girl and is trying to tell her that if they both love each other they why not go for it "Rumor has it you love me,Rumor has it my only hope it you, and the rumors are true", and he's saying that he'd give up eveything to be with her " I turn everything over, i turn myself in", but I 'm new at this.

We can only find our true identity in Jesus! If we surrender ourselves to Him, he will show us who we really are. He made us, and He knows everything about us!

the rumors are true!

and i like this part "To my dismay I find I’m just one of them 'Cause I’m an already (but not yet resurrected) fallen man ... Come define me "

I think that the person that posted these lyrics thought it was about God too, judging by the You's being capitalized. I think it could be about a relationship with a girl, but either way, the song is awesome.

I think it's simpler than that, emokid. It's about God. Switchfoot is, or at least was, Christian. It's about letting God take care of everything, but you have to ask, and you have to let Him in.
