Aspirations Lyrics

Untried and untested,
One fits nowhere but here in anonymity.
There is no birthright - no innate guidance.
No direction or destination is handed down.
Shackles are the one thing free for all.

Dead ends and dead lives abound here,
and failure obscures all but the immediate.
Sweet dreams fall from reach here;
fade from existence - fade from sight.
They merge with the black in decay and neglect.

The surroundings here are sparse and desolate,
and life here is grief,
but the path leading here is short and simple-
it is so like these aspirations.

There's a better way, that we've made
We can all make this change
There's a better way

Better ways and better times are bitter memories.
Lost lives live here without inspiration or desire.
Here is the lowest of places,
but do not despair.

"This song is about the state of hopelessness that is reached when we give up on our dreams. It is true that nothing desirable is given to us for free. The only thing we can be certain about is a mundane, repetitive, and thoughtless existence. Improving our lives takes dedication and hard work, as our dreams won¹t simply become reality. Those who give up trying to better themselves get stuck in a state of hopelessness with no aspirations or goals. They live only in the depressing present. They blend into the crowd of people stuck in the same place and their lives slowly drain their hopes and desires. Seeing people in this situation is disheartening, but no situation is absolutely hopeless. Any situation can be changed if there is a will to change it. -jason" - taken from www.betweentheburiedandme.com

I had heard about these guys from a friend, so I downloaded this song, and it is absolutely incredible. This song started me on these guys, and now I cant stop listening to them.

"This song more or less deals with child abuse, both mental and physical. The lyrics were inspired by the story of a specific person who had all the potential in the world to be whoever she wanted, but that potential was devoured by her overly controlling parents. The title of the song is just a reference to the specific person that the song is about, and the career that she fell into after running away from home. -paul' -taken from www.betweentheburiedandme.com

everything sucks and we must live until death

@indeedi I'd disagree in the sense that it is saying don't let life get you down (even if you think it sucks). Never stop fighting for more out of your life (i.e. have aspirations/dreams).

I had a friend who went to school with them and gave me their demo. I was impressed I downloaded a bunch of songs and this one is great.

this song blends all of the right genres into one song, and they do it pretty well.

between the buried and me is THE shit.

Yes, they are the shit. However there is no way these are the correct lyrics. I mean, yes, they are from the site, but in the actual song, towards the end, he sings something like, "We can all make this change, there is a better way than we have.......(something, I can't make it out). I was just curious about that.

@ekyryliuk "There's a better way, than we have made, we can all make this change, there's a better way"

That's the only set of lyrics missing. Everything else is correct.

Is it just me, or are these lyrics incomplete? Like......REALLY incomplete. The whole high-pitched part and a bunch of other parts are just flat-out missing.

yes the high-pitched part is there. it's a repeat of "fade from sight. They merge with the black in decay and neglect." Alot of Btbam's lyrics are repetitive and sometimes jump around with whatever is written down. It all fits with the music and what the lyrics all mean if you follow along with it.

Not Valid

They also forgot the "There's a better way" part, which is the obvious best part of the song
