Whatever Gets You Thru the Night Lyrics

Whatever gets you through the night 'salright, 'salright
It's your money or life 'salright, 'salright
Don't need a sword to cut through flowers oh no, oh no

Whatever gets you through your life 'salright, 'salright
Do it wrong or do it right 'salright, 'salright
Don't need a watch to waste your time oh no, oh no

Hold me darlin' come on listen to me
I won't do you no harm
Trust me darlin' come on listen to me, come on listen to me
Come on listen, listen

Whatever gets you to the light 'salright, 'salright
Out the blue or out of sight 'salright, 'salright
Don't need a gun to blow your mind oh no, oh no

Hold me darlin' come on listen to me
I won't do you no harm
Trust me darlin' come on listen to me, come on listen to me
Come on listen, listen

Lennon & Elton John were good friends & when Elton & Lennon co wrote this song In 1974, Elton wagered with Lennon that if the song made it to #1, Lennon would have to appear on stage with him. Lennon accepted convinced that the song would not do that well. When the song reached #1, Lennon made good on his promise by appearing on stage with Elton John at Madison Square Garden in New York. It would be Lennon's final concert appearance. Also, look for the song "Empty garden" by Elton John-it was a tribute to Lennon after he died.

It was at this very concert that Yoko sat backstage, ready to take John back after the "lost weekend".

It was also at this very concert that John Lennon made a terrible mess of the bathroom, because he was so nervous about performing together with Elton John since he was afraid that the homosexual crowd wouldn't accept him, that he threw up all he had eaten the entire day (according to the Philip Norman biography anyway).

However, according to Paul McCartney in the book "Many Years From Now", John only threw up because of his drug addiction.

@scts I have never heard about this comment by Philip Norman (author of “SHOUT!” - I had to make sure I was remembering correctly), and I’m not saying it didn’t happen, but it sounds bizarre ! (Truth can be stranger than fiction, after all). I’ve no doubt that he threw up, and was nervous about facing a crowd for the first time in a long while, but because they were HOMOSEXUAL!? Was the concert “gays only”? Tickets half-off at the bathhouses? Maybe it’s true but sounds apocryphal. I’m not even sure ELTON knew he was gay in 1974, let alone...
