i think (seeing as this one of the last songs written by brad, since it was on the last album) that this is kind of a realization that he understands he has become the pawn in the music industry's game that he never wanted to be.
this is shown when he says 'i feel old design', hes wishing he could go back to the low profile bars
and 'i just cant hide' meaning that he cant go back and he cant hide from the fame he has given himself
the music industry is a greedy business, and it's sad how artists are treated just as money by major record labels... but that's why its called the music industry i guess.. not the music co-operation or something :(
The meaning to this song is pretty obvious, and it's already been talked about here. It has to do with the price of fame. Bradley spent his whole life trying to attain fame, and when he got it, he saw that he was just another money-making pony for the music industry to use to line their pockets. There was also talk of a loss of identity and always being in the public spotlight (I just can't hide). "I feel old design" I think had to do with his longing for going back to how it used to be before he got famous. He probably would have lasted a few extra years had he not gotten the fame he wanted so badly. I think the pressure got to him after he signed a major label record deal. He went back to using soon after and died, so there you have it.

This song ironically lays out the basic steps that take you to "superstar" level. You're basically put into a mold and as fame increases you lose yourself in it.
this song is about gaining fame and the personal sacrifices people make to get it.

I'll be honest I had never given this song much attention until recently but its amazingly catchy, I'm having a hard time not listening to it.
interesting that nobody has had any comments on this song...but i just wanted to say (many people already know this and think im stupid) that punani is the Hawaiian word for a girls private part. i dont understand how that relates to this song though...
