I Am Produced Lyrics
I am pressed, printed, stomped
And strategically removed
I am everybody
Insane without innocence
I am trapped, tricked, packaged
And shipped out
I am produced
I am produced
Pressed, printed, stomped, tripped
Trapped, tricked, packaged, shipped...
(The prisoner leaves limping)
And strategically removed
I am everybody
Insane without innocence
I am trapped, tricked, packaged
And shipped out
I am produced
I am produced
Pressed, printed, stomped, tripped
Trapped, tricked, packaged, shipped...
(The prisoner leaves limping)

66 seconds of pure paranoia.
If only every other song was as good.
Yeah, paranoia does seem to be a recurring theme in Bob's work, with "Buzzards and Dreadful Crows" being a fine example. Come to think of it, the next song on Bee Thousand, "Tractor Rape Chain", is quite explicit: "In the first place it's probably just paranoia/But there's a ghost in my room, and he says I'd better run"
I always thought "I Am Produced" reflected Bob's worries of being co-opted by the record industry, not wanting to see his heartfelt art being turned into a mere commodity. But perhaps I've taken it too literally. The words resonate better if you open yourself to multiple interpretations.
