Hold On Hope Lyrics
And folding out mysteriously
Where lies the chance we take to be
Always working
Reaching out for a hand that we
can't see
Everybody's got a hold on hope
It's the last thing that's holding me
Then it's time to leave
But that's the price we pay
when we deceive
One another/animal mother
She opens up for free
Everybody's got a hold on hope
It's the last thing that's
holding me
frustration
At the station
There hides the cowboy
His campfire flickering
on the landscape
But time still goes on
And through each life of misery
Everybody's got a hold on hope
It's the last thing that's holding me

My brother died of leukemia, my family split up... I've had a rocky time to say the least. Every time I hear this song (and yes, the first time was on Scrubs), it really resonates with me. Although I feel hopeless, hanging from a thread bare line, somehow this stripped down sentiment makes me feel pain yet still be able to endure.
It's the last thing that's holding me.

scrubs is awesome... ive got a lot of music from there. if you like this you might also like francis dunnery - good life, tahts a great song. another good one is nil lara fighting for my love :D thats my fave, its wicked. as to the meaning of this one, i would say that put simply its about the way everyone always hopes and sometimes its the only thing keeping them going. and sometimes the hope jsut isnt there maybe :S its a hard one to comment on really

I first heard this song on an episode of Scrubs where Brendan Fraiser has Lukemia. It's such a great song I nealy cried and I still get goosebumbs everytime I hear it.
I'm suprised I never heard it on the radio before. I'm even more suprised no one's made a coment on it yet.

haven't seen the episode, but the really is beautiful.

This song should be a #1 hit threetimes over. Bad managers or something.
This song seems to be about the desolate nature of living life in our world. To hold onto hope is the last chance we have of getting through these desperate times.

i love this song its so great realy the song is saying one thing over and over its telling you to hold on hope. I also think the reason they played it on scrubs that day was because lukimia is such a bad disease there trying to say youll get thrugh this

Yeah, that's where I heard the song. As soon as I heard it, I was like "Nice - I gotta download that".. but yeah, does have that sad feeling to it because of the leukeamia part :-)

When there's nothing more...one has to hold onto hope, because it's the last thing one has

I kinda laughed out loud when I read this quote. GBV was a lot more than making it big. And then I got to thinking, what if they actually had made it big with this song, and then there was a huge backlash when someone started playing goldheart mountaintop on the radio because everyone thought HOH was their typical sound.
A lot of their early tunes would have flown big on mainstream radio if they'd had sexy production like Do The Collapse. Even Goldheart, rearranged, lengthened and polished, could have dented the charts.

the whole scrubs soundtrack is awesome, i dunno how i can tell more people about it so yer. and i agree with everyone, this song is a great song, about holding on hope. i think we all go through this at some point in our lives.
