The Anchor Song Lyrics
I live by the ocean
And during the night
I dive into it
Down to the bottom
Underneath all currents
And drop my anchor
This is where I'm staying
This is my home
I live by the ocean
And during the night
I dive into it
Down to the bottom
Underneath all currents
And drop my anchor
This is where I'm staying
This is my home
And during the night
I dive into it
Down to the bottom
Underneath all currents
And drop my anchor
This is where I'm staying
This is my home
And during the night
I dive into it
Down to the bottom
Underneath all currents
And drop my anchor
This is where I'm staying
This is my home

^that the fuck are you talkign about? The melody is so god damn gorgeous. I want to listen to it over and over again, bjorks voice is the perfect accompaniment but i think the melody takes the song. I too beleive this song is about stability and feeling safe ina certain place.
BEAUTIFUL SONG. The horns annoyed me a little at first, but they really grew on me.
Has anyone else heard the live icelandic performance with a choir? I saw a fuzzy recording on youtube and i was almost in fangirl tears.
An anchor represents stability and a place for longevity. If a person drops his anchor, he or she is "home", and not going anywhere anytime soon. The Anchor Song...
i guess you could say that smiley, but also i felt like this song has to do with isolation and/or loneliness.... what better way to isolate onesself than to dive to the bottom of the sea and stay there? i like this song because what it means to me is that no matter what there is always a way to escape everything and be by yourself.
Great Lyrics. They stand on their own but cripes, the melody part is ghastly. I used to play this song whenever my sisters would go into my room to bother me and then they would get the message and leave. Hah hah. Still, I like it and it was fittingly, the last song on the album. Whowouldathunk?
Peace
I love this song. Her voice carries the whole thing.
I don't understand how there is only one comment on this song! It's one of her best ever.
I agree. I love this song. She had said it was written after moving from one side of the island to the other. She said she seems drawn to water. (itunes inteview).
The Family Tree (Strings 4) version of this knocks down. I always imaging her singing underwater, her piercing voice pulsing like waves from a deep blue abyss. Like clarkthe2nd said, it is the ultimate escape, like finding warmth in ice.
Yea, I saw it. The chorus almost stole the show. Damn, they were good. Bjork was the cement to the song. Yea, I'd say its about Bjork's attachment to the ocean near her home rather than her home itself. I'd feel the same way. Drawn to it in a way like what Emkay quoted.
