Things You Say Lyrics

you got your words
but they make you stuck
now you can’t feel
now you can’t want
it’s just too messy
it’s just too thick
is it too scary
or just too real
it is one desire
burning hot and bright
it could fill the sky
it could fill me up
you write it down
you strategize
never go over
your little lines

but I’ll breathe the air
I’ll stop the clock
I’ll touch the sky
and say what I want

it is one desire
(Carrie: connections are)
burning hot and bright
(Carrie: putting this heart to the words, heart to the words)
it could fill the sky
(Carrie: the brain is tired)
it could fill me up
(Carrie: it's overused, overused, tired, overused)
worth the trouble
(Carrie: connections are)
worth the pain
(Carrie: putting this heart to the words, heart to the words)
it is brave to feel
(Carrie: the brain is tired)
it is brave to be alive
(Carrie: it's overused, overused, tired, overused)

This is missing Carrie's bit, which i feel really makes the song! I THINK it goes like this...

you got your words but they make you stuck now you can’t feel now you can’t want it’s just too messy it’s just too thick is it too scary or just too real?

it is one desire burning hot and bright it could fill the sky it could fill me up you write it down you strategize never go over your little lines

but I’ll breathe the air I’ll stop the clock I’ll touch the sky and say what I want

it is one desire burning hot and bright it could fill the sky it could fill me up worth the trouble (I can actualize) worth the pain (under the heart of the words, in the heart of the words) it is brave to feel (the bravest time) it is brave to be alive (its overused, overused, this time, overused) X2

This is one of my favorites off Dig Me Out

@laxgirl16 I think I solved the actual lyrics last night. I submitted them for corrections here just now.

"but I’ll breathe the air I’ll stop the clock I’ll touch the sky and say what I want"

This is my favorite part of the song; it really captures the essence of living honestly and individually (which I believe is a main theme of the song). You take a deep breath, and time freezes as you offer up that unpopular opinion or state the facts no one wants to deal with.

It makes me feel so strong.

My Interpretation

I Forgot how much I love this song until today. I consider it the sleeper on Dig Me Out. I feel like it all to often gets overshadowed by "Dance Song '97" and "Jenny."
