i'm a bubble in a sound wave
a sonic push for energy
exploding like the sun
a flash of clean light hope
all you scientists can hold your breath
shall i decide to show myself? oh oh

if you think like thomas edison
could you invent a world for me
now all that's on the surface
are bloody arms and oil fields
could i turn this place upside down
and shake you and your fossils out? oh oh

should i come outside and run your cars
should i run your rockets to the stars

take me to the source of chaos let me be the butterfly imperfect symmetry has underlying poetry and rhyme

you can't predict everything with newton like certainty why?
'cause it floats around all we see with oscillating energy on high
and you soothe yourself with a sound you know
you tune out the hypnotic dance
perfect hexagon of the honeycomb
and you soothe yourself with the shapes you know

your word for me is fusion
but is real change an illusion
could i turn this place all upside down
and shake you and your fossils out
if i'm to run the future
you've got to let the old world go
could you invent a world for me
i need to hear a symphony oh oh

General CommentAllright, here's waht I got off an interview w/Venus Mag:

A lot of this record{also applies to the song One Beat}, from a personal standpoint, is about this synergistic energy created between the three of us and sort of refocusing on the dynamic, this language that exists between the three of us. And trying to have a sense of unification. And I think One Beat sort of symbolizes a coming together of forces. It’s the underlying force of the album.

General CommentThis song (at least superficially) is about fusion power, which is probably obvious, but here's some more detail:

"Bubble in a sound wave" Heck, I'm just going to quote an article found via google: When Rusi Taleyarkhan of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and colleagues reported last month that they had observed evidence for nuclear fusion in a beaker of deuterated acetone, controversy was sure to follow. The researchers claimed to have detected neutrons and tritium when bubbles in the acetone collapsed to generate temperatures of millions of degrees in sonoluminescence or "sound-into-light" experiments.

"Source of Chaos, let me be the butterfly imperfect": This is a reference to "The Butterfly Effect" which is attributed to Edward Lorenz. The article he wrote which made this phrase famous was, "Predictability: Does the Flap of a Butterfly’s Wings in Brazil set off a Tornado in Texas?"

"hypnotic dance, perfect hexagon of the honeycomb" One of the most impressive forms of animal communication is the dance that bees do to communicate the location of food sources. The involved dance communicates both direction and distance (through the angle and length of the dance). Weird, huh?

General CommentThis song is called One Beat because well, there is one beat throughout the entire song. Fantastic.

General Commentfreaking awesome song. I believe it's how they are breakthroughs (feminism anyway). How their music and women getting ahead is amazing, yet controversial. What we can do is yet to be seen!

General CommentIt makes me feel like a huge energy thing covering and expanding from the Earth. You could apply that to anything of worth really- revolution, voice of youth, feminism, political uprising. Whatever, Sleater-Kinny fucking rock and even tho I am male, I'd still have sex with them. One at a time or all at once, I dont mind.
