The time is drawing near
My train is going, I see it in your eyes
The love, the need, your tears
But I'll be lonely without you
And I'll need your love to see me through
Please believe me, my heart is in your hands
And I'll be missing you.
Whenever I get weary and I've had enough
Feel like giving up
You know it's you Babe
Giving me the courage and the strength I need
Please believe that it's true
Babe, I love you.
Whenever I get weary and I've had enough
Feel like giving up
You know it's you Babe
Giving me the courage and the strength I need
Please believe that it's true
Babe, I love you.
Somehow try to smile
I know the feeling we're trying to forget
If only for a while
But I'll be lonely without you
And I'll need your love to see me through
Please believe me, my heart is in your hands
And I'll be missing you
Babe, I love you.
I can appreciate lyrics as much as the next guy, but I think this song is one of the sappiest I have ever heard. It's as if they said "let's write a top 40 love ballad hit" and proceeded to do so. I remember several couples in high school and college who chose this as "their song" when they had to part in September. Yeccchhh!! (of course, I didn't have a girlfriend at the time, so maybe I'm just bitter, but I still think this song is sappy)
This song was written by Dennis De Young for his wife Suzanne. I believe they are still married and have a good relationship, so I would assume this was written about him being on the road and touring, not about being in a dead-end relationship.
A sad song, but so beautiful. :) Dennis DeYoung is amazing musician.
WOW! I can't believe no-one has commented ont this song, it's awsome, it reminds me (the chorus) of this girl that I know. Whenever I think that I have no reason to do anything, she gives me the strength to go on.
About a guy who must move on and separate from his true love, for whatever reason their relationship is a dead end right now. Maybe she is married to someone else or maybe he's just mov'n on and she can't join him. sentimental and touching song.
I absolutely love this song...it's one of those love songs that really hits hard for me...
It's not my favorite by Styx, but it's certainly high on the list.
This is on i-tunes list of essential love songs. Just thought I'd mention that.
This has really nice lyrics, it's meaningful, mainly being, that he is leaving, for whatever reason, but will continue to miss her, and he needs to know that she'll will keep loving him as well.
i think this song is styx's way of saying "babe, jason loves jaime" this song is about me and my girl's great relationship! lol
byteskat got it right. Dennis Deyoung wrote this song for his wife because he was away from her so much while the band was touring. But if you have a special lady in your life, it also works as a love song to her. Beautiful song, BTW.
I think you're correct. He doesn't seem to be leaving forever since he wants her love to see him 'though." I used to love this song until I saw the horrible movie "Babe." I believe it was about a pig, although it's been so long I can't quite remember:) Every time I listen to the song I think about a dang farm animal ;)

Yup...a 1995 Aussie/American film about a pig :) Just had to now for sure.
