Learning To Hunt Lyrics
you were a child reaching out
brave and true
for big things in the next room
and i
couldnt step into such
open sky
along the crest of uncertainty
im learning to hunt for you
im learning to hunt for you
say that youll never run too
far away
even with all the answers
out there
where its brighter but no one
will care
half as much as i care about you
im learning to hunt for you
im learning to hunt for you
brave and true
for big things in the next room
and i
couldnt step into such
open sky
along the crest of uncertainty
im learning to hunt for you
far away
even with all the answers
out there
where its brighter but no one
will care
half as much as i care about you
im learning to hunt for you

i first heard this song when i watched the movie "crime and punishment in suburbia." good song and a good movie.
I first heard this song at my work in the stock room. I paused and sobbed and I felt like curling up and being alone forever.
It's so pretty.
One of the most amazing songs of all time. And yes, Crime and Punishment in Suburbia is an AMAZING movie. This song is one of the reasons that it's so amazing.
The last line in the first verse should read: "...open sky/Where on the crest of uncertainty you loom"
Truly, it is beautiful. Not the only song Bob's written which deals with parents' struggle to give their children the freedom they need to grow, balanced against the need to protect them from harm.
I think I've read "Learning to Hunt" was one of many phrases which was considered (then rejected) as a possible title for "Bee Thousand".
This song is making me shake so much. It is so captivating and haunting and beautiful. I could sit here and listen to it all night.
