Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda Lyrics
People said that together we are both sides of the same coin
That we will shine like venus in a clear night sky
We thought our love could overcome the circumstances
But my ambition wouldn't allow for compromise
I could see in the distance all the dreams that were dear to me
And every choice I had to make left you on your own
Somehow the road we started down asunder
Too late to realise how far apart we'd grown
And how I wish I'd, wish I'd thought a little bit more
Now should I, would I, could I means I'm out of time
Should I, would I, could I can't change your mind
And I wonder, wonder what I'm going to do
Should I, would I could I are the last words of a fool
People ask how it feels to live the kind of life, others dream about
I tell them everybody gotta face their highs, and their lows
And in my life there's a love that I put aside
Coz I was risen that love was something else
And so for every little thing you hold onto, you gotta let something else go
And how I wish I'd, wish I'd thought a little bit more (A little more)
Now should I, would I, could I means I'm out of time (Out of time)
Should I, would I, could I can't change your mind
And I wonder, wonder what I'm going to do (Said I wonder)
Should I, would I could I are the last words of a fool
If I would not forsake
We are the truth and these are fake
I know I'm right where I belong
But sometimes when I'm not that strong I
Wish I'd, wish I'd thought a little bit more
Now should I, would I, could I means I'm out of time (Oh, out of time)
Should I, would I, could I can't change your mind
And I wonder, wonder what I'm going to do (Said I wonder)
Should I, would I could I are the last words of a fool
And how I wish I'd, wish I'd thought a little bit more
Now should I, would I, could I means I'm out of time
Should I, would I, could I can't change your mind
And I wonder, wonder what I'm going to do
Should I, would I could I are the last words of a fool
Can't change your mind
Can't change your mind
That we will shine like venus in a clear night sky
We thought our love could overcome the circumstances
But my ambition wouldn't allow for compromise
And every choice I had to make left you on your own
Somehow the road we started down asunder
Too late to realise how far apart we'd grown

These lyrics are incredibly wrong.
I thought this song was called Shoulda Woulda Coulda. I may be wrong, in which case, I'm sorry. I'm going to check up on it, meanwhile.
I love this song... First time I heard in the radio :D
yeh this song is called Shoulda Woulda Coulda!
Yeah, it is. But I don't like abreviating. Sorry, I figured everyone would know what I was on about. A thousand pardons.
no problemo
Shoulda woulda coulda is not short for 'should I, would I, could I' it's short for 'should have, could have, would have'. Otherwise the song makes absolutely no sense...It's about things she should have, could have or would have done. But as she says, at the end there's no point in thinking about what you should have done, as you can't go back and change it.
In my honest opinion, I think that she is a very underrated artist. She's got such a amazing voice that is able to convey so many powerful emotions. I love the fact that she displays her wide vocal range in this song... hitting those low notes in the first verse, and belting it out with all that she's got in the near end. As regards to the lyrics, we all have our moments where we might have regretted making a certain decision in life. But inevitably, it always happens at some point. And once you've made that decision, you need to deal with the consequences and move on. The way I see it is this - she made a choice to choose her career instead of a potential relationship. "But my ambition wouldn't allow for compromise"
She has put her heart and soul into singing and her music that it's "Too late to realise how far apart we'd grown".
"Shoulda, woulda, coulda are the last words of a fool". Of course, one should try to avoid having regrets in life. But sometimes you might let things like ambition and work get in the way of your other needs in life.
Needless to say, I find Beverley Knight's lyrics to be amazing and have so much depth to them. That's cause she's probably one of my favourite singers.
