Crucifix Kiss Lyrics
So mighty so hegemonic so hating so desecrating so there so nowhere so hurting
We fall between indifference rejection and the whole fucking wall
We fall
Christin me fuhrer nazarine
Believe in tomorrow but not today
Give me all your possessions
Make poverty your perfect home
Allow your leaders to control you
Questions are now blasphemy
Why walk when you can crawl
Stay on your knees and kiss my feet
Censorship'll stop your excess thought
Check your billboard for my tour
Listen to Luke sermon six
"And if one of the occupation troops
Forces you to carry his
Pack one kilometer carry it two"
Be a tourist in the war zone
Interrogate scriptures and not your stinking home
That diet of bread and waters old
Now feed on alcohol drug and do what you're told
Now we'll take your number for a name
Soak mind control in christening water out of jail
Fall in love, fall in love with me
Nail a crucifix onto your soul
Fall in love, fall in love with me
Nail a crucifix onto your soul
Fall in love, fall in love with me
Nail a crucifix onto your soul
Fall in love, fall in love with me
Nail a crucifix onto your soul
We fall between indifference rejection and the whole fucking wall
We fall
Believe in tomorrow but not today
Give me all your possessions
Allow your leaders to control you
Questions are now blasphemy
Stay on your knees and kiss my feet
Censorship'll stop your excess thought
Check your billboard for my tour
"And if one of the occupation troops
Forces you to carry his
Pack one kilometer carry it two"
Interrogate scriptures and not your stinking home
That diet of bread and waters old
Now we'll take your number for a name
Soak mind control in christening water out of jail
Nail a crucifix onto your soul
Fall in love, fall in love with me
Nail a crucifix onto your soul
Fall in love, fall in love with me
Nail a crucifix onto your soul
Fall in love, fall in love with me
Nail a crucifix onto your soul

Just completely anti organised religion. that's about it altho it focuses of christianity. Richey spoke about being taken to church and how all it was was some woman standing up there and telling you how worthless u were. The song is just about how ridiculous certain religious ideas are how it can hold us back and be used to control people so they are easier to handle e.g. 'Allow your leaders to control you/ questions are now blasphemy'. Telling to ppl to use up the whole of this life in worship just on the hope there will be an afterlife and they'll go to heaven 'believe in tomorrow and not today'. And just the stupidity of certain forms of worship 'why walk when you can crawl. Stay on your knees and kiss my feet' when put like that organised religion doesn't make so much sense.
The most awesome anti-religion (focusing on Christianity) there is...
"Christen me Fuhrer Nazarene" Nazarene is another name for Jesus, who is the dictator or supreme leader of Christianity (like Hitler was in Germany).
"Believe in tomorrow but not today" Some fanatical sects of Christianity believe in punishing or denying themselves pleasure in this life so they will be rewarded for their Puritanism in the next, after the 'judgement day' (which applies to Islam as well).
"Give me all your possessions" Reflects on the 'God will forgive you anything if you pay the church' con.
"Allow your leaders to control you/ Questions are now blasphemy" You are instructed to dutifully follow everything you're told, and are forbidden to question any of the Bible- it is fact, and the holes you can so easily find in it are just punishable offences of your own sacrelige.
"Why walk when you can crawl/ Censorship'll stop your excess thoughts" Why bother trying to think for yourself when we can tell you what to think?
The Luke bit is Nietzsche paraphrasing the turn the other cheek lesson, how religion teaches you to give in and let people, or more specifically the church, do anything they want to you (like in Yes).
great song. Obvious meaning, anti-religion. "Questions are now blasphimy" refers to how you can't ask questions about religion, just accept it. I love this song, growing up in a rural, conservative area where god is the ruler, no one is allowed to disagree. I nearly got excluded from school for refusing to do R.E because it's all bollocks.
I don't think it's anti religion more Richey being confused by religion and the messiness of the lyrics prove this
Miss D pretty much sums this one up - nothing too ambiguous here. The only thing I'll add is that he is paraphrasing Luke sermon (ie chapter) six - well, he's quoting Nietzsche paraphrasing Luke sermon six. This passage of the New Testament is the 'turn the other cheek' passage - if someone hits you on one cheek, turn your other cheek to him so that he may hit that one as well. Which is a bloody silly argument when you think about it, and that was Nietzsche's point.
Actually, ignore the above - Richey just cocked up, the verse he's referring to isn't in Luke chapter six, it's in Matthew. He quotes verbatim from the revised version of the Bible (ie s version that's been translated into modern English) that I've read.
"christen me,führer, Nazarene". What a fucking lyric!
