Still Holding On Lyrics

There’s something out there left for you
But it’s not me
We’ve reached the point of no return
It’s only right I set you free

I know I have to turn away
But there’s no where for my love to go
And there won’t be a day
When I won’t honor what we felt

But I’ll go on with my life
We can even say goodbye for now if,
If that’s what we have to do

Here in my heart
Even when my arms are empty darlin’
I’m still holdin’ on to you

We can’t deny that this one’s out of our control
Stronger than the both of us
And bound to take it’s toll

I can stand the test of time
And as far as I can see
There are no walls that we can’t climb
Standing between you and me

But I’ll go on with my life
We can even say goodbye for now if,
If that’s what we have to do

Here in my heart
Even when my arms are empty darlin’
I’m still holdin’ on to you

There’s a place you’ll always be
No matter where you are
You’re here with me

When the world is turning upside down
Together we can stand our ground

We can even say goodbye for now if,
If that’s what we have to do

Here in my heart
Even when my arms are empty darlin’
I’m still holdin’ on to you

I’m still holdin’ on to you
I’m still holdin’ on to you
I’m still holdin’ on

This is a great song. I love it when Martina McBride and Clint Black sing together, they compliment each other very well. To me, this song is about two lovers heading in different directions but don't want to let go of eachother. I love it!

I just heard this song for the first time and it hits close to home. At first it struck me as lovers going separate ways, but as the song developed I think there's a deeper meaning. They both say they're hanging to each other and their vows and even when they're gone they're still there in their arms. The "if... if we have to" tells me it's not voluntary these are two lovers saying goodbye for now in this life. He's letting her go and saying it's ok.
