I was reborn when I was broken
I wouldn't believe, I wouldn't believe, no
Been through a storm, no use in hoping
That you would come rescue me
Somehow your love set me free

And I, I can let my life pass me by
Or I can get down and try
Work it all out this lifetime
Work it on out this time
I can let it all pass me by
Or I can get down and try
Work it all out this lifetime, lifetime

There was a time when love wasn't chosen
Now I'm just open for more
Now I'm just reaching out for something better
Than I had before, girl
There ain't a bottom line in your world

Ooh and I, I can let my life pass me by
Or I can get down and try
Work it all out this lifetime
Work it on out this time

I can let it all pass me by
Or I can just try and try
I can move to the light
Oh if I take it one day at a time (oh I)
Oh spread my love out and fly
Oh I (I can move to the light)
Ooh I can just make you understand
That love is not a fairy tale in a melody
If you want it you can have it girl
Maybe you will see, maybe you will see
Ooh oh oh whoa oh
(Lifetime, lifetime)

And I, I can let my life pass me by
I can just try and try
Work it all out this lifetime, lifetime

I can let it all pass me by
Or I can get just, all right now
(Lifetime, lifetime)
I can let my life pass me by
Work it on (Lifetime, lifetime)
I can let my life pass me by
There's no way, there's no way
I won't leave you, I won't leave (Lifetime, lifetime)
I can let my life pass me by
You're so mine, baby
(Lifetime, lifetime)

When you first fall in love, when everything is exciting and fresh, it is easier to be in love. Sometimes after a "stormy" relationship, you have to "choose" to love that person. I feel the song says, he can either let the relationship "pass by" by letting it end, or he can try and work out all the problems and salvage what they have. It's about taking an active role in your life and doing what it takes to get what you want. Not applying yourself will let everything pass you by including a relationship that needs some work.

I think this song means that we need to work everything out this lifetime because we don't know what chances we'll have in the next. Beautiful song.

"I was reborn when I was broken".... To me, this line means that after a storm of some type left him broken, he had an epiphany that changed his mind set. For example, maybe a relationship ended badly, and after the hurting and pain he awoke to the fact that maybe he should start taking advantage of his life and not miss out on the possibilities of happiness it could offer him. I can definitely relate.. Sometimes it seems you just can't get out of the miserable funk you're in.. but one day it's like something happens and your whole outlook on life has changed and grown into something much more positive.... you're just "open for more/reaching out for something better than you had before"

    Song Meaning

Maxwell is simply saying that he wants their differances to come to a halt and for them to love each other. He wants to work out all their hardships.

He had given up on his chances to find real love. Each time he thought he had it, it eluded him. The last time, he was in love it was a stormy relationship.. full of misunderstandings, misguided direction and selfishness.
Now, he has met this girl. She scares him because she represents the very thing.. the only thing he has felt secure about in a long time... Love. He feels good about it, really good but he knows he can't trust that. So, now he is trying to get himself to move toward his blessing. To move toward her and her love for him. Her love sets him free from everything he has known or put into his head that he could never have. He wants her to understand that if he gives her his love then it's real and don't play with it... "Love is not a fairytale in a melody." I can picture him right now with her hand on his chest so she can feel his heart beating. "If you want it you can have it girl." "Maybe you will see, maybe you will see" (that I am your blessing and you are mine). He has waited a lifetime to find her. You know sometimes we have to hit rock-bottom in something before we can rise to the top. He had hit rock-bottom and his last relationship... he thought, it breaking up was a curse. But if it hadn't been for that, he would not have had the opportunity to find her. He would have been stuck in a relationship/marriage of convenience. An alternative meaning.. not too alternative, is that he has waited all of his life to find her. He has been through many relationships in his past and none were the right one. Then... she came along. He knows there are ups and downs in every relationship "Love is not a fairytale in a melody." He is trying to see if she is mature enough to accept his invitation of love. Trust takes a while to cultivate. When you are trying to build up to proposing marriage, it is a huge step. Something people wait a lifetime for. He has to make love work this lifetime.. take that big step ... big leap forward.. close his eyes and just jump. All of it on faith and he wants her to do the same. Who knows if they'll have another lifetime to find each other again. He doesn't want to let her slip past him.

Yeah, and see he said he had no use for hoping that she would come 'rescue' him from the darkness he was in. But then, she came along and her love set him free.

I can't critique this song any better than Pryncess33. She friggin nailed it! She got it!

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
