Whoo yeah.
Sometimes I wake up in the dark night.
And in my mind there's a picture of you.
I know someday this dream will come alive.
So for now your shadow will do.
I've never seen your face but I know you're in my heart.
Baby some day some place I'll hold you in my arms.

I have a gift for you.
Something I've held on to.
Waiting for your sweet caress. (Sweet caress.)
No ribbon has been untied from all that I hold inside.
And only you will possess
This heart of innocence.

I lay my head down on a pillow of white.
Here in the dark, I am cradled in peace.
No loss from yesterday to harm me at night.
No tears to dry.
No sad memories.
There's a heart to hold and I will safely keep
The strength that's in my soul
Until you come to me.

I have a gift for you. Something I've held on to.
Waiting for your sweet caress.
No ribbon has been untied from all that I hold inside.
And only you will possess
This heart of innocence.

Every night I make a wish before I fall asleep. (I'll make a wish.)
That destiny will take your hand and lead it to me.
Oh.
I have a gift for you.
Something I've held on to.
Waiting for your sweet caress. (You know I'll be waiting there for you.)
No ribbon has been untied from all that I hold inside.
And only you will possess
This heart of innocence.
Oh oh

I thought this song was about abstinence. Not that I can even spell that word correctly...but ya know, no sex until marriage baby. Anyways, whatever its about, its a pretty sweet song.

Waiting for your perfect soulmate. The one who will never hurt you, but love you for always. Even though you haven't met them yet, they'll be here soon so you should save your love for that special person.

    Mike go it.

It's about waiting to "make love" with the right guy and not just sleeping with any Joe Blow that comes.

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
