Nope sorry, wrong there Turkey.. It's ultimately about prostitution (Traditionally the prostitute and customer could have sex till the candle burnt down). He is singing about how the male mind generally works and how he cannot see the truth, and beauty behind the lady that is the prostitute. It's all there to see when you got the general idea.

This song seems to refer to the "Macho Man" way of thinking. They live thinking that their lives will stay the same forever, ignoring the fact that time passes and they won't always have their muscles to talk for them.

Jeez, this song hit close to home.

I agree with Ninji-X, although I think it is more Internet porn than just online dating.

I enjoy the range of interpretations here...Sonata Arctica is one of the best bands to try and figure out, IMO.

magnificent song, full of energy

Actually, this songs seems to be more about guys who do online dating to me. Here's why:

"We only have one candle To burn down to the handle"

This is just refering to the fact that we have only one life to live.

"To rage and run like a fool You need no brain, your best tool"

The guy probably thinks he's too angry and stupid to find someone out there and that he's better off without it, even though its the best way.

"You let the phone line bring it home to you The life, the lies, the dreams You cannot see the real thing underneath

This is where the online thing is revealed. The internet runs on phonelines and the guy's addicted to it. That's how he lives his life, even though some of it are lies.

He thinks his life is okay now, even though it isn't. The last two lines is the generalization that guys always think they're right even though they're obviously wrong.

"If you live, you will die You won't live forever stuck in time Ebb and flow, push and tow You must keep it real to find her "

The first two lines are about that he's better off living and dying rather than staying forever in the screen. And the final line refers that he needs to find someone out there in the real world and not online.

Just my interepretation though.

As I read it, the song seemed pretty clear to me. Adressed to people who sit in front of their computer all day long and live a virtual life instead of going out and experience something real. The rage and run in their illusion, which is ment to help ignoring the outside-world. They're stuck in time there, 'though sooner or later will have to admit, that they are not. The If you live like a man, You live in tales you tell and the line with male are refering to this lifestyle, not being a too male way to spend your time, rather childish.

But of course I support the thesis of SoAD, that every song should be interpreted by people how they like it best and understand it.

This song is about online dating with guys and how they have to be straight true about themselves and not pose/fake their appearances with modified images, fake personas, and other false information. They have to "keep it real to find her" as in be social and find that person for you in real life. That is the only way to find your true match.

We can summarize the meaning of this song with the title... "Weballergy" Web - allergy I think On-line dating is the best answer, but also internet addiction.
