If I had to guess, this one is only cool words put so that they sound good, no secret meanings. nevertheless, it does tell story 'bout this 'hero in a dream' who struggles for hes life
even though it probably isn't, this song could totally have been about The Legend Of Zelda
To me this song is about the Hero within all of us.
Basically talking about a person's dream where they travel in lands with mythical creatures. As long as there are people to dream about being a Hero, this Hero will never die because he is truly a Hero in a Dream.

I think that this song is about Dungeons and Dragons. I mean come on, how else is there a "man who travels in the land of dragons and magic spells?" :)
