This song was written as a tribute by Paul to his father. It was the kind of songs that his dad use to play and Paul liked them. I find it rather ironic that Paul writes, "You became a legend of the silver screen, and now the thought of meeting you, makes me weak in the knee", that how people acted towards each of the Beatles. Old frieds whom that had went to school with were suddenly 'getting weak in the knee' at seeing them again, even they put this godliness idolisation on them. Must have been strange to see someone who you used to befriend when you were a kid, was now crying when they see you. The bit that means most to me in this song, isnt even written on here, 'I like it like that. Ohh Ahh, I like this kinda, hot kinda, music. Hot kinda music. Play it to me, play it to me honey, would you.' It belongs inbetween the lines 'To be where you belong' and "Will the wind that blew her boat'...

dude, they were all beatles, paul was an awesome write but was nothing without john to help. they each helped out eachother and tahts what made them so great.

yeah man all of the beatles including ringo were all great it took all 4 of them to make the beatles not just 1 or 2 but all 4 of them...just like any other band in my opinion

I was never much of a fan of the second part of White Album, but when I started listening to it, this was one of them that I thought was really cute. A Paul song I like listening to... (I'm sorry, I don't much care for his slower songs like Blackbird or sad down songs like Eleanor Rigby)

Great song. Whenever I feel down and put on my White Album this song always cheers me up. I find that "When I'm Sixty-Four" from Sgt Pepper's... has the same effect.

I love all beatles stuff to be honest. i just think they're so amazing, there can never be anything better than them. I sometimes prefer Paul's stuff...i'm not sure why...just more...i don't know. his songs tend to be more story-like (Eleanor Rigby, Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite- at least i think that's a paul song, i don't know...) and i like that kind of thing. i think the statement 'Paul was great with help from john' can't really be justified- the two wrote together, neither had particular help from each other, they were both great anyway, there wasn't one that was better than the other, in the whole band i would say really. it's just my opinion that i sometimes like paul's stuff more.

This song is one of several on the White Album that are essentially throwbacks. Several on the album displayed elements of rag time, show tunes, and almost vaudvillian feelings. I love honey pie, and if you hardcore John and George partisans don't enjoy it, thats probably for the same reason you don't enjoy most of Paul's stuff: it's too whimsical for you. To each his own though, for me, this song is immortal.
