Xmas Curtain Lyrics

Hey! The Christmas curtain falls
On lawbreakers that pave the way
For thoughtless folks like me and J
Who'd pay, but can't afford
The finer things in life
So we heist them all...

We're criminals that never break the law!
So, to all you frowns go down
To town square and get some action,
From the Xmas girl that lives inside your womb.
She's always there I think that I'm certain,
You pay to get behind her Christmas curtain.
You're the criminal that never breaks the law!

i think the song is saying that he and j would pay for the finer things in life but they cant afford them so they have to steal them and the law and authorities frown upon that yet these people can go and pay for prostitution. theyre "criminals that never break the law" because they would pay for those finer things that other people have but dont have the money and the authority figures are "criminals that never break the law" because prostitution is illegal yet sex should be free so these are their ways of justifying what they are doing. i dont know what the christmas curtain is though.

It is hard for me to believe that there aren't more comments on this song. Yimmy is a yeenius! Could he be singing about sociopaths? Perhaps "the finer things" are a person's qualities and character (and are not material) and therefore "unheistable". I suppose someone could pay (and/or get paid) to find out about these qualities. Maybe that is the getting inside (and it is "inside", not "behind" if you listen to the song) her christmas curtain bit.

Maybe Yimmy is saying that inner beauty (being honest, open, brave, forgiving, kind, loving and accepting responsibility for your actions) is the reason the christmas girl lives inside your womb. She's always there, I think that I am certain. You'd pay to get "inside her christmas curtain". Yimmy is saying, "Come on you FROWNS!" You too can be good (it is inside of you, I am certain). No need to fuck the christmas girl in order to feel good about yourself.

My absolute favorite christmas song.

James said the following in an interview, which seems to explain the first verse: "That song was about a time when we were very poor, and our old drummer and myself would go into various department stores and steal things and give them to people kind of in a Robin Hood way, give them to people including ourselves, because we didn't have any money and we thought it was O.K. to steal VCR's and stuff from department stores. We thought we were being vigilantes for justice. We would take a VCR and a couple Walkmans and batteries and stuff, and put them on the bottom of the cart and then put a big bag of dog food on top of them all and then have the cashier woman scan the dog food and usually they wouldn't see all the stuff, hundreds of dollars of electronics. But that's why the song kind of references being a criminal that doesn't break the law at Christmas time."
