Allison Road Lyrics

I've lost my mind
On what I'd find
And all of the pressure that I left behind
On Allison Road
Fools in the rain if the sun gets through
Fire's in the heaven of the eyes I knew
On Allison Road

Dark clouds file in while the moon was near
Birds fly by a.m. in her bedroom stair
There was no telling what I might find
Which I couldn't see I was lost at the time...
On Allison Road
Yeah I didn't know I was lost at the time
On Allison Road

So she fills up her sails
With my wasted breath
And each one's more wasted that the others you can bet
On Allison Road

Now I can't hide
(On Allison Road)
So why not drive
(On Allison Road)
I know I want to love her but I can't decide
On Allison Road

And I didn't know I was lost at the time
Eyes in the sun where the road wasn't wide
So I went looking for an exit sign
All I wanted to find tonight...

On Allison Road
Yeah I didn't know I was lost at the time
On Allison Road

I've lost my mind
If the sun gets through
Fire's in the heaven of the eyes I knew.
On Allison Road.

On Allison Road.

come on, kids! Let's give this song some justice! It's about a guy who's not sure he's in love so he leaves his woman and now he's not sure he made the right choice. First of all, one of the best lines was omitted above. He says, "Eyes in the sun where the road wasn't wide. So I went looking for an exit sign. All I wanted to find tonight." So things got tough and he left. Another great line "I WANT to love her but I can't decide". He's not deciding b/w her and another girl. He knows she loves HIM and he desperately wants to love her back. She's giving him that "bedroom stare" of love and all he notices is the birds flying by; meaning that he's probably looking over her shoulder and not at her the way she's looking at him. After he leaves she gets angry "fire in the heaven of the eyes I knew" - the loving eyes are gone and now filled with anger and when he tries to come back she won't listen and decides it's over between them: "So she fills up her sails with my wasted breath".

Just a totally awesome song.

This is awesome- thanks hotminx.

@hotminx perceptive!

behind the upbeat nature of this song, it's another classic depressing piece by gb. allison road is about a guy who's in a mediocore relationship and decides to leave the girl, leaving her heartbroken. later on, he realizes he made the wrong decisions but can't go back to her. another gb song using their favorite word- fools.

incredible song, probably my favorite GB work. allison road is about a guy who breaks up with a girl and then realizes hes's made the wrong choice but can't go back. which explains why he keeps saying 'i couldn't see i was lost at the time.' btw, i checked and there is an allison road in GB's hometown of tempe, althought it's an insignificant little road.

Great tune. However, I would have had eight cowbell strikes starting seven seconds into the song and stopping at ten seconds.

MORE COWBELL!

My Opinion

I read this interview with Robin, and he said it's about a girl who he's in love with but can't tell her, and the line "fools in the rain, when the sun gets through..." is about making love with her by a lake in the rain ... how powerful is that?! These guys are amazing. One of my favorite songs.
