Dead Man's Curve (Jan and Dean cover) Lyrics
I was cruisin' in my Stingray late one night
When an XKE pulled up on the right
He rolled down the window of his shiny new Jag
And challenged me then and there to a drag
I said "You're on buddy -- my mill's running fine
Let's come off the line now at Sunset and Vine
But I'll go you one better, if you've got the nerve
Let's race all the way -- to Dead Man's Curve"
(Dead Man's Curve) is no place to play
(Dead Man's Curve) you'd best keep away
(Dead Man's Curve) I can hear 'em say
"Won't come back from Dead Man's Curve"
The street was deserted late Friday night
We were buggin' each other while we sat out the light
We both popped the clutch when the light turned green
You shoulda heard the whine from my screamin' machine!
I flew past La Brea, Schwab's and Crescent Heights
And all the Jag could see were my six taillights
He passed me at Doheny then I started to swerve
But I pulled her out and there we were - at Dead Man's Curve
(Dead Man's Curve) is no place to play
(Dead Man's Curve... )
"Well, the last thing I remember, Doc
I started to swerve
And then I saw the Jag slide into the curve
I know I'll never forget that horrible sight
I guess I found out for myself that everyone was right"
Won't come back from Dead Man's Curve
(Dead Man's Curve) is no place to play
(Dead Man's Curve) you'd best keep away
(Dead Man's Curve) I can hear 'em say

ok this is the deal with this song. it's supposedly based on a true story. but not of either Jan or Dean. the guy who did the voice for bugs bunny was a big corvette enthusiast and in 1961(the first year for the XKE) he supposedly had this story to him. however, if it did indeed happen in 1961 he would not have been in a Stingray Corvette, he would have been in a C1. the "Stingray" name is most significantly attached to the C2's and was offically dropped from new Corvettes in 1974. back to the song. the guy in the corvette does not wreck. he says 'but i pulled her out' meaning he pulled her out of fishtailing. which, if you've ever street dragged an older sports car, is a common occourence. the guy in the jag isn't necessarily dead, but he definately isn't in good shape.
jan did, however, wreck his corvette not far from this "dead man's curve".
it's a great song (the original not the blink piece of shit), true or not, and has added to the legend of both of these cars
Yes this is a true story about how Jan wreck that night . The song was written as a healing tool or something like that. I have forgotten much of what Dean told me .

i hav never herd of this song but i like the lyrics. i think this is when there band was just called blink
i like this song. but i am confused...did he die. or did the jag dude die ahhhhhh confusion...hehe
umm..no its a cover..originally sung my Jan & Dean..Im not completely familiar with the whole story (it really happened to the guy) but from reading the lyircs Id say both the cars crashed? he swerved and the guy in the jag hit the curb it says ..maybe he crashed and he is talking to a doc in the hospital or maybe he is talking to a shrink about the horrible sight he saw..i dunno..but ITS A COVER..thats the important part
Blink were in a TV movie about Jan and Dean, and this was on the soundtrack.

There is a clip of blink recording this song on the Urethra Chronicles video.
yeah, they record this in Urethra Chronicles 1. well a clip of it is shown.
also, it's just about somebody (most likely an enemy or rival) challenging him to a drag race down dead man's curve, and him accepting. then, closer to the actual race, he gets worried, but tells himself he's just being a chicken, and then does it. and also, his friends tell him not to do it, that he would die/get hurt. then he does it. "Well, the last thing I remember, Doc, I started to swerve. And then I saw the Jag slide into the curve. I know I'll never forget that horrible sight, I guess I found out for myself that everyone was right won't come back from dead man's curve"
so basically, he did it, then crashed, everyone telling him not to race was right, and he's telling the doctor about what happened.
a.k.a. he's not dead.
i think i know the meaning of the song. this guy raced with another guy because he dared him.
well, the deadman's curve was really dangerous but they raced at there. i guess at last they crashed here and there.
so this guy met the doc and told the doc everything that happens.
does anyone know where to download it?
