Oh, baby
Well there's a light in your eye that keeps shining
Like a star that can't wait for night
I hate to think I been blinded baby
Why can't I see you tonight?
And the warmth of your smile starts a burning
And the thrill of your touch give me fright
And I'm shaking so much, really yearning
Why don't you show up and make it alright, yeah?
It's alright right

And if you promised you'd love so completely
And you said you would always be true
You swore that you never would leave me baby
Whatever happened to you?
And you thought it was only in movies
As you wish all your dreams would come true, hey
It ain't the first time believe me baby
I'm standing here feeling blue, blue ha!
Yes I'm blue
Oh, babe

Now I will stand in the rain on the corner
I watch the people go shuffling downtown
Another ten minutes no longer
And then I'm turning around, 'round
And the clock on the wall's moving slower
Oh, my heart it sinks to the ground
And the storm that I thought would blow over
Clouds the light of the love that I found, found

Light of the love that I found
Light of the love that I found
Oh, that I found

Hey, babe, ooh

Hand that ticks on the clock
Just don't seem to stop
When I'm thinking it over
Oh, tired of the light
I just don't seem to find
Have you wait, yeah played
Whoa, I see it in my dreams
But I just don't seem to be with you, you
I gotta get it all, gotta get it all, gotta get it all
I've got to get all

Ooh now my body is starting to quiver
And the palms of my hands getting wet, oh
I got no reason to doubt you baby
It's all a terrible mess
And I'll run in the rain till I'm breathless
When I'm breathless I'll run 'til I drop, hey!
And the thoughts of a fool's kind of careless
I'm just a fool waiting on the wrong block, oh yeah

Hey, now, oh, oh, oh
Light of the love that I found
Light of the love that I found
Light of the love that I
Light of the love that I found
Light of the hey, now light of the hey, now
Light of the love that I found
Light of the love that I found

    My Interpretation

Could this song possible be about the phases of a one sided love obsession?

"Well, there's a light in your eye that keeps shining Like a star that can't wait for night I hate to think I been blinded, baby Why can't I see you tonight? And the warmth of your smile starts a burning And the thrills of your touch give me fright And I'm shaking so much, really yearning Why don't you show up and make it alright? It's alright"

This sounds like a definite infatuation with someone who randomly came into his life, and now he covets her attention, but he's not getting it or enough of it, so it starts making him uneasy and only want it more. Sometimes feelings like this can cloud your judgment and blind you to reality.

"And if you promised you'd love so completely And you said you would always be true You swore that you never would leave me, baby Whatever happened to you? And you thought it was only in movies As you wish all your dreams would come true Hey, it ain't the first time believe me, baby I'm standing here feeling blue, blue Ah, yes, I'm blue"

Could he possibly be describing what he want's to believe here? Often times in a one sided love obsession you want to believe the person you care for feels the same way back so badly you almost literally do believe it, even though reality might say otherwise. It's the second phrase that makes me think this here says "And you thought it was only in movies, As you wish all your dreams would come true". also the last line seems to suggest he knows it's not the first time this has happened to him.

"Now I will stand in the rain on the corner I'll watch the people go shuffling downtown Another ten minutes no longer And then I'm turning around The clock on the wall's moving slower My heart it sinks to the ground And the storm that I thought would blow over Clouds the light of the love that I found"

This to me sounds like part where he waits and waits and wait for some kind of sign from the person he cares about but isn't getting it and facing the inevitable pain of heartbreak, after he had spent so much time trying to convince himself that this person he cares about would end his loneliness when he says "And the storm that I thought would blow over, Clouds the light of the love that I found"

"Now my body is starting to quiver And the palms of my hands getting wet I've got no reason to doubt you baby, It's all a terrible mess

I'll run in the rain till I'm breathless When I'm breathless I'll run till I drop, hey The thoughts of a fool's kind of careless I'm just a fool waiting on the wrong block, oh yeah Light of the love that I found..."

This is probably one of my favorite verses in this song. This to me sounds like he knows he needs to let this person go but still doesn't want to and still wants to believe that person could have feelings for him, despite his major suffering. "I'll run in the rain till I'm breathless. When I'm breathless I'll run till I drop" Feelings like that can be really stubborn and difficult to let go of at first but eventually you learn to pick yourself up and try again with someone else. "The thoughts of a fool's kind of careless. I'm just a fool waiting on the wrong block, oh yeah". This sounds to me like he knew at the back of his mind he probably fell for the wrong person for all the wrong reasons.

Just my thoughts on it. Amazing song. Really love the samba breakdown with the ukuleles.

The lyrics are rather straitforward. It's about a guy waiting for a girl on the wrong block. This is definatly one of Zeppelin's best songs. The Samba breakdown is just fantastic and really shows of Bonham's ability as a drummer. Has a real 50's feel good vibe to the whole track. Led Zeppelin was nothing short of genius.

My most favorite song by Led Zeppelin: This song could put anybody in a good mood. John P.J. kicks arce on the piano, Jimmy P's solo with the octavator is insane, J Bonham also kicks major arce on the drum beat; its one of the most complicated beats ever written in rock history and the solo is pure lunacy, Robert P also sang very well. If I were to find out that I was going to die tommorow I could put this song on and I'd be the happiest person alive, for my last day atleast. Led Zeppelin is the greatest band ever. I highly suggest, if you were to suggest a song of LZ's for somebody to hear, you suggest this one.

I think the song's meaning is found in this stanza:

"And the storm that I thought would blow over Clouds the light of the love that I found"

I believe this song is about a man who is singing to (although she is not actually there) an ex who he is still foolishly hung up on, and that this longing is keeping him from fully loving the one he is with now.

('Light of the love that I found' is repeated over and over too)

    My Interpretation

So I think he might be literally referring to being a fool in the rain. He makes plans to meet up with this girl on a street. And now he "stands on the rain in the corner" meaning it keeps raining and he keeps waiting and still nothing. However towards the end of the song, he says he's a fool waiting on the wrong block. Meaning although he's been waiting so long, he's been standing there like a fool, in the rain. A fool because he's on the wrong block.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
