I Am The Dog Lyrics
Every night the dream is the same
I sit here waiting for the world to end, but it never ends
And everything I used to be has spiraled into insanity
Every night I sweat and bleed in her name
The darkwave comes
Sanity slips away
She screams from the alcove
"I am the dog!"
She was born in the year of the dog
She never would betray the world I never saw
Blinded eyes that never see, shattered into infinity
Every night the dream is the same
The darkwave comes
Sanity slips away
She screams from the alcove
"I am the dog!"
Every night the dream is the same
I suffer wading through the endless waves of empty disdain
And everything I used to be has spiraled into insanity
Every night I sweat and bleed in her name
The darkwave comes
Sanity slips away
She screams from the alcove
The darkwave comes
Sanity slips away
She screams from the alcove
"I am the dog!"
I sit here waiting for the world to end, but it never ends
And everything I used to be has spiraled into insanity
Every night I sweat and bleed in her name
Sanity slips away
She screams from the alcove
"I am the dog!"
She never would betray the world I never saw
Blinded eyes that never see, shattered into infinity
Every night the dream is the same
Sanity slips away
She screams from the alcove
"I am the dog!"
I suffer wading through the endless waves of empty disdain
And everything I used to be has spiraled into insanity
Every night I sweat and bleed in her name
Sanity slips away
She screams from the alcove
Sanity slips away
She screams from the alcove
"I am the dog!"

This is really an underrated gem. This is my second favorite song off of DNB, after the title track. This song is a real thrash fest, Warrels vocals sound like he's completely insane which I think was the point.
This album is a concept album about a girlfriend Warrel had that ran off to join some religious cult and he had weird dreams about her drowning. This song is after she left and the dreams start. The phrash "I am the dog" is used in other places in the album as well.
That's good, then, because Nevermore if a very atheistic band. Most of their songs seem to be about the senselessness of organised religion.
atheist and anti-religion can mean two different things. people can believe in God without religion. they're called Deists.
the whole part about:
"she was born in the year of the dog"
mystery solved lol
muzzy got it on the nail btw
