Wake Up Lyrics

Ride the station through my radio
Nothing's on, it's
Like a joke that's told without its final line
Where's it going
We had it wrong

I know
I'm trying
I'm trying to wake up
Wake up

And in the tale I find you running too far
Looking back, your
Elegant and sentimental songs of shame
Won't they ever
Spin around
Forward
They're trying
They're trying
That's all you do

Hear the call of a new world
As they climb to the next floor
Haven't we
Met before
Under brighter skies
Aaaaaahhh
Aaaaaahhh

Anyway that's fine
We're walking through it
Unfamiliar scene
We're choking on it
And we're shaking hands
With someone we don't know now

sometimes i think about waking up from my life - but then i realize how lame that statement is.

That statement isn't lame. It makes so much sense in the society we live in today that it just seems lame.

This song is awesome. It's basically a 'wake up' call to those who walk around wearing rose colored glasses.

Love that whack drum beat. Love Hamilton's eeire delivery of lyrics. Love that guitaring on the chorus. It seems like its about being robbed a perfect life but realising no one was inclined to have one anyway.

Wow, these lyrics are wrong. I'll fix them. Great song, even better live.
I think it's about living in a horribly dystopic world and snapping out of a trance, realizing that things weren't always so bland and we didn't have to "choke to live" before.

It's hard to make out a couple of parts, but I hear:

"Nothing's on, it's like a joke that's told without its final line. Where's it going? We had it wrong."

"elegance and sentimental songs of shame."

"Hear the call of a new world, As they climb to the next floor."

"And in a way it's fine, We're walking through it. Unfamiliar scene, We're choking on it. And we're shaking hands with someone we don't know now!"

I related to this one especially hard in the wake of my first breakup. Had to keep getting up early for university, even though it was the last thing I felt like doing, and face the stark new reality in which I found myself. The harshest feeling of solitude. The sky outside was usually bleak and gray. No direction to go but forward. Climb to the next floor, try to keep up with everyone else, even if there's no emotional investment.
