I Understand Lyrics
Im on the edge everyday
Aint nothing going for you and me
I am my enemy in everyway
He planted the seed
When i was a teen girl i walked real awkward
Like a dog with three legs
I had fought my wars
I was a misshape mistake misfit
Untamed mishap with a junkie heart
Now theres been a shift
I stopped taking hits
My eyes start to flicker flicker
My mouth starts to drip
My heart starts to tinker tinker
What can I do when Im bound like this with you
Now i really understand I cant feel
I cant feel it i cant feel it
Aint nothing going for you and me
I am my enemy in everyway
He planted the seed
Like a dog with three legs
I had fought my wars
I was a misshape mistake misfit
Untamed mishap with a junkie heart
I stopped taking hits
My eyes start to flicker flicker
My mouth starts to drip
My heart starts to tinker tinker
What can I do when Im bound like this with you

i think shes talking about how maybe she had a tough childhood .. but then she realized that she had to stick up for herself because no one else would...all their songs are ggood lol
I read it as a troubled childhood/addiction song. Maybe how her troubled childhood/adolescence led her to heroin addiction. She had a "junkie heart" to start with, then there's a "shift", she kicks dope and "stopped taking hits" (of heroin), her "eyes start to flicker" after years of being glazed over from being high, and her "mouth starts to drip" after all that time with dry-mouth, which you get from taking heroin, but even so, she still realizes she's "bound" to the drug. she realizes that after years of being numb from dope, she still "can't feel"... or maybe it's about somebody she had a relationship with who introduced her to heroin, who "planted the seed" and their whole relationship was based around the drug, so when she quits, she feels there's nothing else substantial to the relationship, or that because of the nature of their relationship, it can't continue now that she's clean, "what can i do when I'm bound like this with you". and that she "cant feel" anything for him now? ...just quesses, but i say its a safe bet it's about heroin addiction anyway, with the junkie heart and the part about the eyes and mouth.
Just a bit of trivia, when Brody says at the beginning of the song, "Hey double bubble, I'll give you a ride!" It's a reference to the Cheech and Chong film 'Up In Smoke', taken from a comment 'Pedro' made to a supposed Hitchhiker. This song is possibly my favorite Distillers song. Its full of raw energy, spirit and anger. If you're about to kick someone's ass girls, listen to this song first.
This is a song about smoking weed I think. The double bubble reference goes two ways, cheech and chong obviously and then also a bong (double bubble). Usually "hits" are used when referring to smoking weed (although she could be smoking heroin), but the dry mouth thing has me believing it's weed. I've never really heard of junkies having cottonmouth. Lastly, I think the Junkie heart comment is just a sentimental reference to being a junkie at HEART and not necessarily in person.
its cool that im the first person to comment on this song. i dont really like it tho.
