Dreaming Of The Queen Lyrics
Dreaming of the Queen
Visiting for tea
You and her and I
And Lady Di
The Queen said: "I'm aghast
Love never seems to last
However hard you try"
And Di replied
That there are no more lovers left alive
No one has survived
So there are no more lovers left alive
And that's why love has died
Yes, it's true
Look, it's happened to me and you
Then carriages arrived
We stood and said goodbye
Diana dried her eyes
And looked surprised
For I was in the nude
The old Queen disapproved
But people laughed and asked
For autographs
And there were no more lovers left alive
No one had survived
So there were no more lovers left alive
And that's why love had died
Yes, it's true
Look, it's happened to me and you
I woke up in a sweat
Desolate
For there were no more lovers left alive
No one had survived
So there were no more lovers left alive
And that's why love had died
Yes, it's true
Look, it's happened to me and you
Visiting for tea
You and her and I
And Lady Di
Love never seems to last
However hard you try"
And Di replied
No one has survived
So there are no more lovers left alive
And that's why love has died
Yes, it's true
Look, it's happened to me and you

Diana dried her eyes
And looked surprised

So there were no more lovers left alive
And that's why love had died
Yes, it's true
Look, it's happened to me and you

No one had survived
So there were no more lovers left alive
And that's why love had died
Yes, it's true
Look, it's happened to me and you

The song is about AIDS and its effect on the gay community (before retroviral drugs arrived), hence 'there were no more lovers left alive'. Waking up in a sweat was a symptom of AIDS.
Obviously love never lasted in the Queen's family for other reasons. The song was on 'Very', released in 1994 (three years before Diana died in Paris) - obviously you won't hear it on the radio now which is a great shame because it is an excellent song.

This song is about AIDS. the queen is a gay man. No more lovers left alive because of the disease. Diana was a prominent figure in reducing AIDS around the world. The opposite story of the song is post Dianas death. The song is almost prophetic if you didn't know the true meaning of the song and not knowing it was released in 1994!
